keep your eye on that horse that won there Gala Brand, out of Violence...Mott is a solid trainer who is not known for his firsters...tipped her hand with a bullet workout last time...very impressive, and at 8-1 what I need to combat the rest of the Pick 5

Cody's Wish is a better one turn horse, but he will be tough to beat, especially with this small field...I'll take a flyer on the 3-Giant Game -I think the proverbial lightbulb went on

Some long shots
Race 6...the 1-Thin White Duke not as accomplished, but just as fast, and more important has the rail 20/1 ml
Race 7...Mid Day Image...won't be 15-1 with Ortiz aboard but should still be a value
Race 9...nice long shot the 3-Aspen Grove...Filly opted out of the race yesterday to run with the boys...great value at ml of 12-1

Race 3 the 3-Beachwalker, nice value at 5/1 right now...the 8 is stepping up in class and is 3/2, no thanks

ran strong 2nd paying $5.70

Race 7...I may be reading the form upside down, which I do frequently, but unless the horse is missing a leg in the post parade why is the 9 so high, cold on the board, dead in the horizontals...odd career in that he was routing until this year when he became a sprinter at the age of 7? still all over him

Saratoga TV coverage went to break with a shot (aka "Gladiator") of Ortiz saying "Irad Ortiz. How much damage will he do today?" completely un aware of what they were saying

Running horses in mid 90s temperature in Florida in Aug. What do you expect? Death by heat stroke.

Saratoga officials should be charged with animal cruelty. There needs to be laws about not running horses above certain temperatures, like low 80s.

I did not partake, so I wash my hands of this.

It was in New York and heat had nothing to do with it. She broke a leg.

I keep seeing blurbs on how bad the Saratoga meet is going this year. Short fields, injuries, etc. True?

Yeah it has really sucked...today looks a little more promising...

in The 9th race the Alabama...as much as I like 2-Wet Paint I think she's vulnerable...I like both the 8-Randomize who popped a huge race last out as well as the 10-Defining Purpose at a huge price...And Race 10 is a doozy, like 7 or 8 Horses that can win....interested if anyone has any thoughts before I punch in some P5's ???? (I'm definitely including the 7-Running With Scissors)

atmosphere of gloom after what happened with NY Thunder. the discord i'm on was reporting a mass exodus of fans after that happened.

so go ahead and win the Travers, Baffert. no one will see it.

Suck it up Buttercups....Ruffian,Charamatic, Barbaro ....back in the day they used to shoot (yeah that's right shoot the fucking animal right there) these animals were born to run. It upsets some intelligently challenged. If you could only care as much about the people killed in Chicago .mmmm I wonder what the equine deaths at the Spa is to human lives in Chiraq?

If you posted that on Twitter you'd get pilloried, but for the most part I agree. It comes down to the question- do you think human beings should be allowed to "own" horses? Because if not, there aren't going to be many horses.

I truly believe the point of HISA is to end horse racing. In any case, HISA doesn't seem to be helping to limit catastrophic breakdowns.

It's unfortunate to have a horse break down ten feet before the wire in a Grade 1 (especially when I needed him in the Pick 5) but cattle die, kinsmen die, and one day soon you too shall die.

Two fatalities in one day at Saratoga.

That's too much. What the fuck are they doing to kill these horses?

The sport is dying. They can't keep it safe because they have to run horses in 90 degree heat in Aug. in Florida.
