Yesterday was fucked. Nothing made sense. It was like Eddie Mush in reverse.

I don't think you can dismiss Fierceness. He's an erratic horse, on one race and off the next. He was lights-out in the BC Juvenile. If you look back to the Holy Bull, where he came in 3rd, there was some bumping with Hades down the stretch. It looked to me like Hades veered out into Fierceness' lane, and the impact could have hurt or shook Fierceness that he finished only 3rd. Stewards were asleep and should have DQd Hades for the collision.

Other than that, Sierra Leonne is a good pick, even with the twenty-horse field in the Derby. Sierra Leone will be picking off tired horses left and right down the stretch at Churchill.

The Japanese horse that won the Saudi Cup, Forever Young, seems decent. He's got good late-kick.

We'll see how good Dornoch is this weekend in the FOY.

Dornoch is my current horse to win the Derby...I'll be boxing him with Victory Avenue who has been working lights out in the morning to prep for this

Fierceness was a last addition to my BC Friday Pick 5 (thought I was going to single Muth, glad I didn't) that won big for me...curious to see how he develops on the trail

I do not like Dornoch. But I have to get over it. The Remsen was a great race. I know I have an emotional bias against him.

My Derby favorite right now is Liberal Arts. Trained by Chicago guy, Robbie Medina. I plan to make a killing with him in the Ark Derby.

Locked has speed and class. He should be the favorite over Dornoch, whose final speed fig. in the Remsen was on the weak side.

This is a big step-up for Speak Easy, but the horse looks talented to me. He has long, easy strides and eats up the track. He's has the advantages of having run on this track once before, albeit at 7f, and Irad in the saddle.

I think taking an ex. with Locked, Speak Easy and Dornoch is a safe bet. The winner is probably between Locked and Speak Easy.

6th at Oaklawn with Bertie's Cause.

Then I miss a tri-fecta in the 7th at OP by a head with the two beating the four for 2nd. Had it 3-4-2. and it was 3-2-4.

Ughhh.

Redeemed a little with Super Chow in the TomFool at Aqueduct.

I'm still not impressed with Dornoch. He was all out to beat a mediocre field. The Clement horse that won the Gothan might be a player.

Tampa Bay Derby...Fast and Firm…nice card with a couple key scratches but big fields, and lots of losing tickets

Don’t underestimate the O’s. local jocks Camacho, Centino and Gallardo, especially Sammy Camacho

Race 9 Great race…2-Marketsegmentation scratched, 1-Fluffy Socks 8-Star Fortress, and the 7-Elusive Princess are all quality horses…Tampa is unique in that their turf routes go around three turns…the 7 should get a pace advantage…both the 1 and the 8 will be flying late, despite the slow fractions
7-2--1-8

Race10…Florida Oaks…3-Phoaroahs Wine would’ve been a nice price after her last race but scratched…5-Waskesiu should have a slight pace advantage, trainer Mott wins at a rate of 20% in Graded Stakes…6-Austere is trained by Walsh who will have this horse ready…10 Weigh the Risks and 11-Dynamic Pricing will be ridden by the Yahoo Brothers so who knows how that will impact the race…both of those, trained by Brown, have won at this distance
6-5-11-12

Race 11-TB Derby 5-Domestic Product no value. Might win…3-Give Me Liberty ran better than it looks at Oaklawn 2-Everdoit will be on the engine and 7-No More Time will get a nice pressing trip…1-Heartened has won on this track, and this is a good course for a horse for the course, of course of course
7-1-5

light Pick 5 starting in Race 2
1, 8 / 1, 10, 11 / 3, 6, 11, 12 / 4, 6, 12 / 3

Gotta be kidding me with the tote outage.

Couldn't place any bets and would have had the winner and tri.

They need a backup system. Shouldn't have run the race with the tote board down.

Tampa Bay Downs track announcer Jason Beem said on the public address system that the tote holdup was caused by an outage that affected other tracks on the East Coast. Tampa Bay Downs is a wagering partner with 1/ST Technology's AmTote.

1/ST Racing's Gulfstream Park was among the other tracks that also experienced some tote delays, as did sister track Santa Anita Park. The latter saw its Saturday feature race, the B. Wayne Hughes Beholder Mile Stakes (G1), go off 23 minutes past its scheduled post time after a tote delay in late afternoon.

Post subject:  Re: Road to the Derby

Aidan Butler, president of 1/ST, did not return a telephone call requesting an interview, saying he was traveling from Tampa Bay Downs, but texted a short statement. He said 1/ST would have a more detailed statement Sunday and speak with BloodHorse then when he has more information.

"I have initiated a full-scale investigation into the loss of connectivity between AmTote and certain racetracks," he wrote. "I do not have the final results as of yet, but it appears to be a wider-spread communication outage that took down both the primary and backup communications. This outage affected multiple telecom/internet service providers and was much broader than the racing industry."
