Those may be popular usages but the psychological definition of an introvert is a person who has his or her energy sapped by a crowd, whereas an extrovert is sucking that energy up. We've met on several occasions. Would you say I'm shy? I'm not. But those interactions can be exhausting for me after awhile whereas someone like IMU thrives on them.

Kirkwood can explain it too.

JORR's voice sounds like Mark Grote and Les Grobstein had a mouth child. And that's not a bad thing.

 I don't. Like most message board denizens- IMU and Seacrest being notable exceptions- I'm extremely introverted. For the most part I prefer going through life with no one noticing me.

I'm not going to tell you I don't appreciate when the proprietor of an establishment appreciates my business. It's cool when Bobby at Lucci finds me a table when I walk in at 8 on a Saturday without a reservation. I just don't seek out that relationship. And I certainly wouldn't be a guy to push it.

I find it hilarious that you try and claim to be an introvert.

There's a difference between being shy and being an introvert. I've never claimed to be shy.

Explain to us idiots the difference.

And btw, we have had a pretty peaceful partnership amongst us over the first year.

Use my name in the same sentence as that other guy again and you'll see how quickly that can change.

shyness is anxiety

i think introversion is about cognitive style--introverts prefer to think through problems on their own (they can follow and participate in dialogues, but will work things out themselves) and like more in-depth conversation. they seek that alone time to think whereas extroverts seek others. i think they also get tired of crowds easier. i am sure it's much more complicated than that.

so there's a significant difference between the two.

At the same time JORR when I first heard your voice I was surprised it wasn't heavier.. As the podcast progressed heard it a lot more.

As an introvery with shyness I get told I'm neither all the time. IF i get comfortable I'm not shy but that is not easy shakes. My inlaws always laugh at drunk "Drunk Squirrel" as the shyness disappears and the introvert gets defeated for a short time.

Yeah, I guess Frank does. I don't really notice it because it's not uncommon in these parts.

Also, I'm appalled at how much I say "you know". Just fucking terrible. The good news is, I may be qualified to be mayor of Chicago.

Yes, an hour after last drink I trail off to introvert land and am absolutely exhausted. The sister in law, who oddly enough shares the same heritage as Dr. Ken's wife, pretty much says the same thing to me.. Good for you Squirrel, you aren't sitting there quietly.

Yeah, JORR is anything but shy.

And we all know how reserved he is with his opinions.

I wonder how many people on here are either shy or introverted, or both? It'd be interesting to know that.

He's not shy nor an introvert. He is quite gregarious. But those are just my humble opinions on the matter. Heck, I believe it was Nas that thought I was shy, which is the furthest thing from the truth.

Shyness and introversion are not the same thing.

All introverts don't act like invisible phantoms in social/group settings. MANY introverts are very social but it's absolutely draining once the engagement/event is complete. Whereas an extroverted friend of mine is energized by going out every day of the weekend, I need like 2 days of solitude to recover after a night of socializing.
