I understood Parkins overall point but pulling out the Muhammed Ali card was too much.

Listening to the SJW bit now, and I think it's clear that Parkins understands the beef people have with B&G. "I'm not going to do it as much as our afternoon show, for various reasons..." Yeah, he knows.

You can discuss social issues framed as a sports story, but don't let that be all you talk about. The SJW stuff on B&G wouldn't be annoying if they did it for a segment or two, but it takes over their entire show and that's why W&S are killing them.

I think Parkins is aware enough to see that. B&G are to the point where they think their job is to be serious and push narratives. Parkins knows his job is to be fun and entertaining. That's why I can listen to him and won't give B&G a second of listening time.

Yeah I don't think anyone is against discussion of the larger social issues when they crop up in sports but when it domintes almost each and every show along with lecturing your audience and also being told if you don't agree 100% with this you're ________ is probably something he's smart enough to see the pushback on and to stay away from it .

Another great episode, Dr. Ken, I liked it a lot. I don't know why, but it's always weird to hear radio guys swear.

Really enjoyable listen, Ken--had an "NPR" sort of vibe to it.

I think what was missed on the SJW front is that there is absolutely NO ONE at the Score that has a more centrist, let alone conservative, viewpoint on these SJW issues. So, while Danny acknowledged that confrontation makes for good radio (I agree), there is no one that ever confronts the SJW's. If a caller does, they are deemed stupid.

For example, if an NFL team picks up Kapernick, not one person at the Score would provide a viewpoint that would be critical of that decision. And while there may be reasons for a team to pick him up, there are absolutely valid reasons why a team should not.

I also think that, whether purposeful or by chance, the actual intended meaning of "SJW" is blurred or even changed to suit the narrative one wants to push. Parkins takes the "SJW" acronym literally, portraying it as used pejoratively by people who simply don't want social justice or equality.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I was always under the impression that the term was used to denigrate those whose whole identity is wrapped up in social justice, if only as a means to signal their own virtue or win the "Oppression Olympics". It's not that railing against SJW's is meant to rail against equality, but rather that MANY of these "warriors" are only outraged when it suits them and their cause. They're not really interested in equality, they're interested in being seen calling for equality.
