Yeah, that doesn't good for the golf swing. :(

Is he even going to play Majors anymore? Is he really going to do all of the rehab and prep work and whatnot just to make the cut and be a complete non-factor in terms of being anywhere near the top of the leaderboard? I know he still moves the meters, but as a competitor I don't know how many times he's going to deal with the pain of walking a tournament only to be one of the first groups out on Sunday.

Those NDAs don’t pay for themselves

It is roughly 8-12 week recovery time. There was a lot of chatter he was going to miss the PGA anyway and shooting for possibly the US Open and Open Championship. He'd be pushing 8 weeks to make that US Open in Los Angeles. The guy doesn't need to golf anymore but he loves to compete and has said many times that he'll stop teeing it up when he feels he doesn't have a chance to win.
He's still proven he has the game for a round or two. It would take a lot to string 4 in a row together but try not to count him out completely.

Wasn't sure where else to put this, but as a number of members both past and present have dealings with the Special Olympics, I thought this was pretty awesome.

Quote:
Topgolf announces partnership with Special Olympics, will become an officially sanctioned event

Starting Jan. 1, 2024, the local organizing committee for any Special Olympics outing held across the U.S. or around the globe will have the option to include Topgolf as a global medaled event. This opens the door for Topgolf’s inclusion in future Special Olympics USA Games and World Games.

Didn’t watch it but saw that Illini alum Nick Hardy was on the team winning the tournament. Went to Glenbrook North. Nice victory.

They've had a pretty solid golf program the last ten years or so..... a handful of guys on the PGA Tour like Hardy, Thomas Detry and Thomas Pieters is a player on LIV.

So it is being reported that Patrick Cantlay now has Joey Lacava working for him full time, doesn't sound good for Tiger coming back any time soon (the next year) if Joey is finally leaving him.

I think that is a good thing for both of them honestly. I am sure Tiger was likely going into his pocket and keeping LaCava on retainer but a guy like that likes to be out there in the dirt with his player. I would not be surprised if Tiger doesn't come back for the final two majors but certainly as a fan I was rooting for him to make it back.

Wells Fargo this week and almost always an exciting tournament with the biggest names. Interesting layout that has gained a lot of traction hosting a PGA and a Presidents Cup. PGA will be back there in 2025 so guys love playing tracks they will see in majors. Hoping for good weather and a stacked leaderboard by the weekend.

I wasn't able to catch the final round after the first few holes. Another first time winner. Couple of weeks out from 2nd major of the season, I don't remember Oak Hill too much from past years and I have heard they did a significant amount of work to try to get the course back to the way Donald Ross originally intended it.

They mentioned they changed to over seeded rye grass. I saw the leaders miss fairways a bit.

I didn't get to watch this weekend but nice to see Jason Day back in the winners circle. Guy had to get through a lot of pain to get back to holding a trophy and happy to see him playing well again.

Yeah great for Day to put it all together again. They showed his history post round, and I didn't realize his 2015 was as good as it was. 5 wins (including the PGA), and 2 other top ten finishes in majors.

He's also been playing much better of late. I could see it happening on a particular week for him.

Everyman hero Michael Block finally hit the wall yesterday with an opening round 81 in Texas. Not a huge surprise, he has to be running on fumes and I think only got one day to look at the course before the tournament. He broke down crying about missing his kids afterwards. Still very happy for him and maybe he can pull it together today before heading home. Not sure if I will watch much of this one, depends on who might be on the leaderboard.

Yeah he was 4 shots clear of everyone else at the bottom. This was likely his highlight from yesterday...

Memorial this weekend which is usually pretty interesting. Tough layout usually tests one of the better fields for the $20 million elevated purse. Two weeks out from the US Open so will be interesting to see who is playing well or starting to play well right now.

The course is awesome, it has been hot and dry there and there is no rain in the forecast. It is fast and firm.

For the first time since I moved out here, I have been present at this event - yesterday and today, and either tomorrow or Sunday.

I will provide a full report when it’s all over.

Scheffler is incredible especially considering how many strokes putting he is giving up to the field.
