congrats boyd, good bowling. my team convincingly did NOT want he championship, but i did finish with a decent 600+ series and after my winter swoon got my average back up to 197. ill be ready for next season, glad to get this one behind me after a season of ups and downs.

Nationals may have been the toughest shot I have ever seen. Once I did get a line down, the pocket splits came a-plenty.

i went to nationals several years back in the mid-late 90's and recall vividly struggling to get 500's let alone 600's. it is on my bucket list to go back to nationals and give it one more go some day.

The next three years are Reno, Vegas, Reno.

After that, it's Syracuse.

i went to Salt Lake City, Reno and Huntsville. I really enjoyed Reno and Salt Lake City. Huntsville not so much. Vegas would be a blast. I've spent time in Syracuse before, thanks but no thanks. not a bad town mind you, but it ain't Reno or Vegas.

i'd love to go back and see what my horrible scores were those years, but the USBC website only has past results back to 2005. i think i threw a couple sub-500's in there, i know it wasn't pretty.

I shot 410 in team this year.

Two of my teammates are in a summer league, where two people bowl four games each week. I subbed for one of the guys tonight, who is at the Surly brewery in Minnesota. I haven't picked up a ball in three months, and I shot 224-246-213-195--878. Eddie shot 987, for a total of 1865, which obliterated the league high of 1800. Eddie is my teammate, drummer, and soul brother. He is the best bowler that I have ever, and probably will ever know.

Only three open frames in four games. The 195 game was clean.

When they have it in Vegas is it at Sam's Town? My friend Jerry bowled in the ABC Seniors there and I went with him. You had to take the balls up a flight of stairs to be weighed in a little room. There was a little old guy named Tuttle who looked like he was about 100 lbs. soaking wet. Jerry told me I should help him take his balls up the stairs. The next day Tuttle kicked the shit out of Jerry in a qualifier. After the series I picked up Tuttle's bags to help him again and Jerry gave me a look and said, "What the fuck are you doing?" I said I was helping the guy with his bags. Jerry said, "FUCK HIM!"

league started last week. this summer i had all my grips replaced and also had the ball reconditioned. i did not have a chance to practice with it beforehand. during practice i couldn't keep the fucking thing in the pocket, it was just taking off. in game one i threw 3 huge splits and ended up with a brilliant 161. in game two i started getting the feel back, increased the speed a little, and started finding the pocket by the end of the game, for a 193. in game three it all came back to me and i was able to string 6 or 7 in a row in the middle of the game for a 234. i needed two strikes and count in the 10th to get a miraculous 600 but i couldn't pull it off and ended up with a 588. not great, but i was feeling VERY good about how the ball was hitting in the last game and a half. i hadn't realized how much i have had to slow down the ball to get the same reaction over the last season or so, but now i can put some mustard on it and get the good back-end movement i was getting that first year i bowled so well with it. i think i am going to have a decent season after a disappointing 2014/2015.

Thursday league starts this week...Tuesday league starts next week. Had fun this summer.

The mass exodus from our league has continued. We had 11 teams at one time, but now, we only have six. We might just merge with the Tuesday night league, who also lost some bowlers.

Damn...that sucks. We are at 16 on Tuesday, and as of the meeting last week, we may be up to 18 if the ladies league lost 2 teams...Hoffman Lanes closing helped rebuild my league a little.

we are down to 8 teams and there had been talk of us possibly merging with the Monday night league until it was realized that half of that league bowls on Thursday night already. had a decent night last night, 205-221-191-617. only 3 opens but other than a stretch in game 2 i wasn't able to string enough strikes together to have a big series. i did pick up most of my spares except a couple big splits and one 7-pin. i love the way my ball is turning into the pocket again after re-conditioning it over the summer. i am going a little high because it is finishing so hard and leaving a lot of 6-pins (LH). i just need to make a minor adjustment and i think there are some big series ahead of me this year. my arm is tired today now that i can put a little juice on the ball and know it will grab and turn, last year i was babying it just to get it to move.

Started the mixed league with my wife last night...shot 665...nothing like coming out of the gate swinging....would have been higher, but I couldn't carry on the left lane in the 2nd game and wound up with a 174.

Men's league starts Tuesday night...depending on the women's league next to us, we will either be up to 16 or 18 teams (16 for sure).

This has been a really rough start to the season. I haven't shot 6 on Tuesday nights yet...last night's 568 was my high since week one's 595. At least I'm getting a little cap to start the year...and I actually won the survivor pool with a 202 (with cap)

We also more than doubled our point total for the season..sigh

this past week i shot a 234 - 161 - 207 - 602. not sure where the 161 came from, i missed 4 spares! they weren't splits either, they were just whiffs. i have been very inconsistent again this year and my average is probably around a 195 right now. i am striking more, but my spare shooting needs to be cleaned up significantly.
