I don't care if a special little piece of paper is taped up in the locker room......fans don't stand in a bunker. On any other course.
Stupid rule that ruins an otherwise great TV golf course.

He did't get robbed, how come every other player new the rule? Believe it or not DJ is kind of a dumbass, even with all of that talent.

Awesome

I will take your word for it that every other player knew the special rule. I have not talked to all of them.
It's a dumb rule. Fans don't stand in bunkers.
In theory, a bunch of fans could cover some bunkers with grass, wrappers, blankets, etc (while they are standing in them) - are they still a hazard then? Or has it now become.....trampled grass/spectator area?

So now 5 years later you want to go on a tangent about this, do you yell at clouds now also?

I bitched about it then too.
I guess they are back at the same course for the first time this week or something. Thought I read that somewhere.

I just rewatched it last night. He definitely got screwed. When he got to his ball there were so many people in the bunker the only part of the bunker that was visible was a little 5 foot square section that had no lip and looked like a worn down walking area for fans. Even Ferehty, who was standing right there, said he didn't think it was a bunker. It would've been one thing if he knew it was a bunker and then grounded his club because he assumed it was allowed as a natural waste area..that would've been a case of him being ignorant to a posted rule. But, since the area was not identifiable as a bunker how was he supposed to know he was breaking a rule? How was he supposed to know he was in a bunker??

But, all that said, let's not lose sight of the fact that he still choked big time on #18. First the awful drive. And then, in what would be foreshadowing to his future issues in Majors, he missed a 5 foot putt that would've put him in the playoff.

Spanky, let me ask you this......if the ruling was different and DJ was included in the playoff do you have any real confidence that he would've won it? The guy just choked big time on 18 (regardless of the ruling), he had already choked at Pebble Beach and given what we know of his recent chokings I have no doubt he would've been out of that playoff before they even reached the second tee of the 3 hole playoff.

So terrible rule, but in the end it wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Why did no one else have this happen during the week?

I can get with this. Nothing was for certain.....he probably still gags the thing away.
But it's a terrible rule.

I'd love to see Augusta or even Pebble allow fans to stand in bunkers.

1. Luck
2. The gallaries were at their largest when it happened to DJ since it was on the 18th hole of the final round which makes it even harder to distinguish the bunker. If the gallary was smaller there would've been less people in the bunker, possibly no people at all once they cleared space for the golfer.

I don't think Augusta even allows golfers in the bunkers. Or at least they have to take their shoes off first.

My guy Thomas Bjorn is tied for the lead.

He is still one of my two favorite names read by Ivor Robson at the Open Championship. The other is Rickie Fowler.

Yep. Barring a 2 bridie finish, he is probably going to have to shoot a 63 or 64 tomorrow just to make the cut.

The cut line isn't going to be -5 or -6. It's currently at +1.

Jim Nance just told me that the journey to the PGA Championship starts with a "bagful of dreams".

Don't forget Grace was in the mix at the US Open until he hit one to the train tracks.

Day has been quality, depends on how tight Jordan is wearing his pouty pants and how much the wind keeps kicking up over the round.

Like to see Day close it out. Been close a lot. Throw him a bone on this one. Seems likable too.

Day wins it. Nice to see. Lots of good talent coming thru the ranks. Speith is just a machine too and a pretty classy dude. See ya in April.

Jordan now ranked #1 in the world. This kid is my favorite professional athlete. Class act and mature beyond his 22 years.
