Really looking forward to watching some golf this weekend. Firestone is such a great layout for the best in the world, its a great
run up to the PGA. Like I have the past 5 years or so I am having to work out of town the weekend of the PGA so I am going to
miss almost all of that.

Steph Curry teeing it up at a Web.com event. I know that he played well at the celebrity outing in Lake Tahoe but it is
a whole different world when you go up against guys that play golf for a living. It seems like he is going in with a
healthy respect for his competitors and has hopes of making the cut. My guess is that he will probably finish last and
miss the cut but I hope I am wrong. If he can put two rounds out there in the 70s I think that would be respectable.

A tip of the cap to Curry yesterday, it appears he played pretty well. He is still 11 behind the leader and very likely will miss the cut
but it appears he hung in there well today. There is a very good chance he won't finish last either.

Hideki Matsuyama fires a 61 to win the WGC-Bridgestone. That's how you close out a tournament.

If Jordan Spieth wins this week I'll give away a Wilson D300 driver to someone on the board.

That's got a different look to it. Pretty cool, Ugie.

Just read an article about how they plan to move the PGA championship to May in 2019. I think Ugie may have brought this up previously. That takes out any Midwest venues moving forward. 2019 scheduled for Bethpage. Good luck and enjoy NY golf fans.

Not a bad idea. The PGA has always been the red headed stepchild of majors. If you throw it in the middle instead of the tail end, you might get some more eyeballs on the TV.

I agree it becomes more important but just takes the top to middle half of the country out of the running to host. #moreglobalwarming

It also probably takes courses like Chambers Bay or The Olympic Club out of the running for the PGA as well. Kinda shitty.

With the PGA move, The Players is moving to March. I don't think I like these moves very much.

The Players is basically a regular PGA TOUR event nowadays.

I don't either. It sucks that the majors will be done by mid-July, and that the next event that really means anything won't be until April (Ryder Cup years excluded).

I always thought that they should have made The Players an official 5th major, and have it as the official PGA season-ending event. This whole FedEx Cup bullshit, along with the new wrap-around schedule...

The wraparound schedule is a joke. The events during what was once the "offseason" are poorly attended and viewed. However, the FedEx Cup is about as good as it's going to get.

what they really need to do is get rid of the FedEx Cup. Dumbest playoffs in all of sports.

First the point system is confusing and hard to follow along with.
Second, it means less than at least 4 golf events that happen during the regular season. name another sport where the playoffs mean less than the regular season?
Third, all it is is a money grab where you get to watch multi millionaires battle it out for more money to throw on the pile.
Fourth, its stupid the way they hand out trophies every week of the fed ex cup. Name another sport where you get a trophy for winning a round in the playoffs?

They should get rid of the whole fedex cup and just have the PGA championship be the final event of the season. Maybe I'm crazy to think that the PGA tour should have its championship at the end of its season, ya know, like every other sport in existence.

Every other sport you are referring to with playoffs and a Championship is a Team sport.

The most "important" event in the NASCAR season is the first race of the year.

NASCAR isn't a sport. Even golf is more of a sport than NASCAR.

What I do every day on the Kennedy and Edens vs people who may or may not have insurance is far more impressive than anything NASCAR drivers do in a controlled environment vs other professionals.

This argument has been rehashed time and again.

The FedExCup Playoffs are far from perfect. However, the concept of having the best-performing players compete at the end of the year (which doesn't really exist anymore due to the wraparound schedule) is one I like. The preferred format would be match play, but even that has its limits.

We aren't getting anything better than the FedExCup.

I missed the reasons why when it began but why the wrap around?

Money.

There have always been events during the fall and winter months (Fall Series), but nobody of value ever played in them. Sponsors threatened to abandon those events, which would be a bad thing to the courses that hosted them. Making those events worth something -- i.e. FedExCup points -- in addition to basically mandating that top players had to include a new event on their schedule every year paved the way to a wraparound schedule.

I guess the advertiser angle makes sense. I always felt the fall was a good time for the great players to get time off and let the lessers make a few bucks.

That was a really compelling back nine yesterday, not sure if anyone else was watching. The line that DJ took with that last drive
was pretty damn ballsy and gave him the advantage he needed. Both of them getting up and down from that bunker on 16 or 17 was
equally incredible.

:eye: Yeah I was just joking around. That is the kind of bad karma that may haunt my own game. I hope Sones can fix you up so you can enjoy
the rest of the season.

Anyone going to the BMW this weekend? I went a couple of years ago with my wife. It was her first PGA Tour event and we had a pretty nice
time I guess. We mostly just sat on one hole and watched groups come by and then walked a couple more before we left. Was pleasantly
surprised how convenient they made bussing people in and out of there. I thought it was going to be a real hassle but ended up relatively
painless.

My position on the FedEx money grab is well known in these parts.
