The hope I have been holding for one last late season round is fading fast. :(

County courses close up here on Friday. My plan is to get out into the woods on Sunday morning and start looking for golf balls.
I found about 150 last year and I think I can find at least 200 this year, depending on how thick the leaf cover is. I have a couple
of ball retrievers for the water hazards as well.

My preferred balls are the Srixon Q Star Tour, Taylormade Project (a) and the Callaway Chrome Soft.

Thanks.

I found more Srixon balls this year during the season than any other brand by far. I will let you know when I am all finished and
I might be able to send you a care package. I only keep the ones I play and give the rest away. I just have fun going out and
finding them once a year.

I played MANY Srixon and TaylorMade balls this season. Despite the bad swing, I became a bigfan of both brands.

Found 111 balls after 3 hours of searching. Barely found any balls in the woods so wasn't sure if someone had beat me to it or
if the leaves were covering a lot of them. I had a new ball retriever but it didn't work for shit when I was reaching for anything
more than 10 feet out. I was also wondering if the cold water was making it act up. I found maybe 20 balls that I would play
and there were a lot of balls that were garbage. I wore my Steel Toed work boots and after walking in them for 3 hours my
dogs were really barking. I may go out again in the spring but at this point I am thinking it isn't worth the effort even though I
enjoy walking around out there.

Anyone else play today? Temperature was nice but the wind really picked up later in my round. Shot 40-45. Some bad shots down the stretch as the wind started to blow sustained 20+ the last 5 holes. Four 3-putts on shaggy greens. But hey, it was outside golf after Thanksgiving and I'll take the 85.

31 degrees at Prairie Landing. No wind, no hat, no winter gloves. GLORIOUS.

46 degrees now. Shot 40 on the front in 90 minutes. Playing solo behind a twosome.

This foursome was rather dickish about letting me play through. Not surprisingly, they were playing from the wrong teebox for their ability.

Why would any foursome be shitty about letting a single player thru??

That would also explain leash's absence, by the way.

The mere mention of leash and a coyote just ran across the 18th fairway. Holy shit.

He's died and been reincarnated as a coyote.

Finished with an 82 in just under 2:45. Bogeyed 3 of the 4 par 5s. December golf in the sunshine is pretty sweet.

Those turds were probably 3-4 holes behind me when I finished.

92 yesterday at Gleneagles. In terms of hitting the ball and lack of wasted shots, it was one of my best rounds of the year. A water ball and an unplayable on #17 lead to a snowman and killed my chances of breaking 90. Four pars, one of which was on 18 where I left the birdie one roll short.

Fairways and greens we're in very nice shape, the bunkers were brutal and unplayable. The angle of the sun and the leaves made a handful of shots hard to find, but my buddy and I each only lost one ball in that regard. 100% sunny, virtually no wind made for a glorious December day. I had one long sleeve layer on, and my winter hat was off by the 4th hole. Played 19 holes in about 3 hours 15 minutes (we each played two balls on the Par 3 #16, two pars for me). Great way to wrap up the season.

Anybody have West Burb suggestions for good places to hit in the winter? Going to try to get back in the game for next season, and I would like to have an off-season of practice reps in before hacking it up at any course near me in the spring.

The golf dome off of Rt. 53 was nice, but really too small to judge shot shaping on anything other than a soft wedge, on top of pricey, as their "unlimited" membership offer starts at $800. Zigfield Troy has a few covered tees that have heating elements, but I don't know whether they're going to do much good when it's 20 degrees out.

Open to suggestions, thanks.

Top Golf in Naperville. Yeah, if you go at the wrong time it can be annoying, but at least you get to hit full shots. Just go to the ground floor. I think the one in Wood Dale is better for actual golf practice because it is less family friendly.

Played what I assume will be the last round in 2017. Killed my drive on 18 and thought "nice way to end the season with pure drive". Then proceeded to shank my approach shot and thought "nice fucking way to end the season, fuck!".

Golf.

As a single confronting a 4some about playing through I always ask permission as a courtesy, but make no mistake, I'm playing through either way.

41-48 at Coyote Run yesterday. Considering it's almost Christmas time, the course was in phenomenal shape. Greens were slower than usual, but nothing anyone can do about that. I played exceptionally well on the front nine with all pars and bogeys. Had two 7s and a double on a par-3 on the back nine that drove the score up. Overall struck the ball pretty well. Was happy to get out again.

McQ's Sports Dome in Bolingbrook has seen better days. Now owned and operated by Mistwood, the hitting field and mats are in dire need of upgrade.
