And wet, and muddy, and breezy. No thanks, I'll play indoors.

Have fun Franky. I played a couple rounds like that last year starting in February. It can be enjoyable and maddening at the same time.

The simulators have gotten so much better over the past few years that it is much more fun then it used to be. Have a couple beers, make a few swings, laugh with some buds, and most importantly stay warm and dry.

Frank, if you meant the course rather than the range I have to agree with the others. Muddy, damp cool and wet is no way enjoy golf.

Muddy & windy I agree with. Damp, cool, or even downright cold is not a problem for me. 45 and sunny in December is good enough for me to try and squeeze in 9 holes this weekend.

With apologies to Frank, we ended up playing 18 at Marengo Ridge. It really wasn't too bad out there. The ground was still frozen enough just under the grass that it wasn't very sloppy. Actually hit the ball pretty well. Encouraging because I was worried with how I ended the season.

How do you guys play in these conditions? The ground is hard enough but frozen ground sounds terrible, I'd drop my iron trying to hit out of that.

When I was in Cincy for work I had clients from Northern Kentucky that had space heaters in their cart in 20 degree weather, I played but it was the worst 18 holes I've ever played.

20 degrees? No fucking way.

If it's 40 or above, I'm down. Winter golf gloves and proper layering is all you need.

Furious has a 1/4 zip for all occasions.

I'm surprised they didn't kick you off the course donning that.

Yeah, 20 degrees no way. It was mid 40's and sunny. Temperature wasn't a problem. Three thin layers (four at the start), jeans (this time of year they are acceptable), and that was all the cover I needed. Started the round with a knit cap but even that was off after 5 holes. Dodge the snow piles and all good.

Go to Mistwood Golf Dome in Bolingbrook. Formerly Ditka's, formerly McQ's.

Best practice facility in North America.

I found one of those nice oversized leather Titleist driver covers while visiting my parents a few years ago. I was so tempted to just put it in my bag and use it when I got home. We caught up to the group ahead of us and of course it belonged to one of them. I've been tempted to get one but just haven't been able to convince myself to pull the trigger on such an expensive accessory.

Is there a significance to the 22 Mean Machine designation?

Got it. I don't think I have ever watched that one to be honest.

You should rectify that, T.

Sunfish are nice covers. They have some nice college ones and specialty ones.

Doing the big year end review with my wife this weekend including finances and what I have to spend on golf stuff. I had the brilliant idea last night
that maybe it would be worth it to trade in my Mizuno MP-25 irons and put the cash towards new irons. I figured they had to be worth at least $300
after buying them brand new 2016. 5 iron through PW with KBS C-Taper shafts books out at $162 on the PGA site that most places use when you
are trading in. I am sure I could get more for them if I sold on my own but that is such a hassle. Guess I will keep using the irons and look at building
out my other areas like I planned. I like the irons and don't really see anything else to gravitate towards.

Played the day after Christmas down in Tennessee with Piglet, up and down round but felt good to be out in 65 degree weather.

How much of club technology claims are bullshit? Watching the Golf Channel and I see all these commercials for driver and iron technology from the major manufacturers all claiming to have "changed the game". Are any of these things ("rib core", "twist face", "milled face", "power holes") actually innovative or some amount of revolutionary? From wood to metal, steel to graphite, I get, but milling the face of a driver doesn't seem to measure up.

Same goes for that guy on tour with the irons that are all the same length and the computer-crafted "efficient" swing. If you're doing something so revolutionary that is so much better than what everyone else has, why can't you win a tournament?

Bryson DeChambeau won the 2017 John Deere Classic.

Well then, looks like he's changed the game.

 Is this a bit? You seem to be quite ignorant about golf equipment (not to mention the PGA tour  ), so you might want to tone it down a tad. Somebody thinking "M" on a shaft designates "medium" has a long way to go. Do your homework and get back to us.

Oh hi there, asshole, good morning to you too. I'll try to not ask questions that I don't already know the answers to.
Stop being ignorant!

STOP ASKING QUESTIONS TO CURE YOUR IGNORANCE!

You've been nothing but a condescending gatekeeper since I began asking about getting back into the game, and I have never professed myself to be an expert in any area of golf or golfing knowledge. Kiss the sweatiest part of my ass, jackass.

Great thread.
