There are plenty of good, entertaining golfers to watch during any competitive event, Major or not. You're young enough that you should not be dismissing golfers like Fowler, Rory, Rahm, Koepka, Day, etc.
I just don't find them all that compelling though even with how insanely good at the sport they clearly are.
Casual golf fan IMU is onto something.

You had the #1 player in the world going for a three-peat and was 1-2 shots back all day long. You had the #3 player in the world, a US Open champ in the final group and was in the mix until the back 9 on Sunday. And you had the #5 player in the world, another US Open champ who fired a 61 last Sunday to win, poised to make a run as well.

But thats not compelling enough for you.

it's golf.

I have no doubt about their talent. I just don't think they are the types of players that create an emotional investment. Now, the three guys I mentioned have been in the spotlight for over a decade each so maybe one day I'll be happy to spend a whole Sunday rooting for, um, Brooks Koepka?

If it wasn't his talent, what was/is it about Tiger that made him compelling for you to watch?

Well, Tiger is at worst the second best golfer of all time so I think the answer could be pretty much everything about him.

I would say the bigger question would be why I found Sergio to be compelling, and I wouldn't have a great answer to that outside of the years of near misses he had.
