I don’t camp, but if I did I would think this would be the start of my favorite time of year, not the end. warm days, cool nights, sitting around a fire without sweating my ass off.

What about all the bugs?

I go camping a couple times a year in the summer up north. Door County or north of Traverse City is where I camp. For some reason, I really enjoy watching YouTube camping videos. I love the stealth camping videos. My family makes fun of me for it. I am going to set up my next truck with a cap so I can camp in the back.

Big campgrounds like KOA and places like those do mosquito abatement. State parks you're gonna get eaten alive until you're in campfire smoke.
I have a fogger that I bring to spray the immediate area if necessary. It's like 15 bucks at farm and fleet.

We just got back from Egg Harbor. Spent a week there camping. We'll be there again next September. Biking thru peninsula state park, shit like that. We did a ghost tour this year. Cheeky but fun.

When I got divorced I gave my wife all the camping shit. North Face tent and all of the other stuff that goes with it. Looking back I guess I was glad I did it but I hate the set up, the take down, and all the dirt. A lot of fun nights around the campfire but I’d be surprised if I sleep in another tent in my lifetime. Maybe the next pandemic

Stealth camping is when someone camps, usually illegally, in non-traditional locations. There is a Youtuber (Steve Wallis) who does weekly videos and often he will do a stealth camp in some odd location. He'll backpack and has either a hammock-style tent or a 2-person tent. Videos always involve him cooking dinner and having a beer or two. He'll also do a stealth camp in his car and sleep in different parking lots. It is similar to boondocking. A big draw is to camp in extreme weather such as rain or cold. I am definitely not recommending this to anyone and my wife has no idea why I enjoy these videos. But a lot of people like them.

That would be cool when I was younger.

We tent camped a long hot and humid long weekend this summer. Boated at same time. Rained a little every late evening and bites generally made wife and dog uninterested in more.

There is a state park place on a good lake that is raw and boat up only. Maybe my son and I go next summer.

This weekend (Columbus Day) has normally been our fall camping trip to Door County because my kids school combines institute days with the holiday and it ends up being a 5 day weekend for them. My son started school at ASU in August, so we're flying out there to see him instead.

Spending 2 nights at this place, with Grand Canyon trips during the day, but I realize it's in no way camping... Looking forward to it though.
