I really enjoyed the coverage on USA the last two days. Three different sets of announcing crews doing 4-5 hours each, gave some interesting perspectives.

Watching early this morning and flags barely moving. I was wrong about some of the leaders coming back to the field after Cam Smith went bananas yesterday. I know some of the pins will be put in tougher spots this weekend but it may not be enough to slow the onslaught.

Edit - apparently I’ll be watching more than I thought. Had surgery on my neck yesterday and I cant swing too well without possibly tearing the stitches. I might try it tomorrow and just hit half shots around. Hard to swing when it feels like needles poking you in the neck once you get 3/4 of the way back

No. Started pretty small and then they last few weeks got to the size of a golf ball before it burst while sleeping. Four stitches below the skin and a couple on the surface with some glue. It looks nasty and obviously pretty tight moving my neck. I generally take a pretty solid whack at the ball so playing golf less than 24 hours after being cut seemed like rolling the dice. I’ll play tomorrow but will likely move up a tee box or two and just hit a lot of 70% knockdown shots. It’s about hanging with my guys and then giving it a week to heal.

The entire field save for a handful of guys will finish the tournament well under par. Rory might get to 20 under after 3 rounds.

Need to bring in some fans. Did the twins sell their metrodome fans before the demolition?

Hoping for a final round like Stenson and Mickelson in 2016. Don’t care too much about the scoring if there is an exciting finish. Certainly the easiest conditions I’ve seen for an entire tournament at The Open. So many short par 4s and the course is so rock hard that these guys have been able to figure out how to adjust. A solid leaderboard still opens this up to be a great final round.

And I find the sentiments, pearl-clutching and hand-wringing about the “low” scores laughable. Rory, Hovland, or both MAY get to -20, and that’s under historically ideal weather conditions. If they had a day or two of more “traditional” weather, the scores would be a good six to eight shots more.

It’s gonna be sad to have to wait another 5-8 years for the next St. Andrews Open.
