Elaine: Who Gendason?

Kramer: Steve Gendason.

Elaine: Why is that name familiar?

Kramer: He used to be a baseball player.

Elaine: Oh, how did you end up playing golf with him?

Kramer: Well, I met him on the course a couple of years ago. Yeah. Played with him a lot. But today was it! We're on the fifteenth hole, ya, he's beating me by a couple of strokes. Then, he's about to hit his second shot, when, he picks up the ball and CLEANS it.

Elaine: So what?

Kramer: Umph, sorry! But the rules clearly state that you cannot clean the ball unless it's on the green. The rules are very clear about that.

Jerry: Certainly are.

Kramer: Ya, so I penalized him a stroke.

Jerry: Ah, so what happened?

Kramer: He LOST IT! We almost came to blows. We were face to face like a manager and an umpire like this . . kara a pukka ba ya ka ba . . .

Jerry: All right. You're in MY face.

Elaine: I still don't see what the big deal is.

Kramer: A rule is a rule. And let's face it. Without rules there's chaos.

I never had any head covers. I wanted to get head covers for the irons. Never got around to it. CUZ I QUIT!!!!

Worth a damn? Shoot a 110 but if you keep pace and have fun as well as practice basic golf etiquette (don't stand in someone's line, don't stand directly behind someone teeing off, be mindful of your your shadows, cart path when warranted as well as park the cart at the back of the green/towards the next tee, repair ball marks, etc) , you won't have any trouble finding a group to play with.

Shoot 80 but play at a snail's pace and act like an ass (i.e. Iron Covers), and you will be a single all the time.

Exactly. Other than not taking 500 practice swings before every shot (because it won't matter one iota) you described my game perfectly. I keep up with the guys in the 80s just fine and well all have fun.

Getting pissed off at somebody who won't put his head covers on is fine though.

I follow the rules, play at the proper place and suck. I have iron covers that were a cheap grab bag gift. I don't like the clinking.

Well I am glad you can play at the proper place. I sometimes find myself playing in other places, like people's back yards, nearby parking lots, roofs of schools, etc.

Because irons don't need to be protected like woods and putters that can be damaged by clanking around.

I think the iron cover thing is a tad facetious, but if you really want to know who isn't worthwhile check the practice area. The guy who shows up to the range and immediately pulls the driver and starts swinging as hard as he can is a tool. Anybody who is not hitting a wedge or short iron with the first quarter to half of their pre round bucket-- unless they have already spent time at the short game area-- is somebody I'm hoping not to be paired with.

Judging by the gas carts and the attire this looks like a muni course somewhere, and there's a special sub-set of muni golfers who think every golf ball they come across must be abandoned and in no way could be in play by someone else, so they pick them up as backups, and from my experience they REALLY do not like being called on it.
