Also, it won him the golf tournament. They know they aren’t playing anymore golf this weekend.

I'll probably tune in some this weekend if there is an interesting leader board. Was fun watching Clark go bananas last weekend at Pebble for a stretch. Tiger teeing it up next weekend and Riviera always a fun course to watch on TV.

Looks like the Phoenix area had some bad weather roll through so a little early to look at the leaderboard. Glad to see Theegala back up there. I was rooting hard for him last year but just wasn't his time yet. I'm sure he would like to win the one that got away.

Strange seeing golfers bundled up and blowing on their hands in Phoenix.

My son is at ASU. It's been warmer here the last 2 days. It's rare winter win to be able to give him crap about the weather. When it's in the 70's there next week, I'm sure he'll return the favor.

Seems like the 16th and the entire WM tournament has become a real poopshow this time round. Its been brewing for a few years I think. The bad weather certainly doesn't help and I know it's a fine line between crazy and fun at that place, But from what i'm seeing on X its gotten out of hand.

Final round leaders teeing off and three very nervy swings. Solid ten guys can easily win this right now.

Yeah I heard they were not letting folks in even with legit tix. It’s ok to have fun but I saw quite a few people going a bit overboard. WM has allowed it to happen and it’s given them plenty of good press but now they have a little egg on their face.

When youve tacitly allowed and encouraged this behavior for years , you dont get to whine about it now.

Jon Rahm already said he missed playing in the American Express and Farmers. He doesn't seem too pleased with the "golf but louder" vibe.

Will be interesting to see how this new brand does. My guess is that it will be pretty expensive. I see what they were trying to do with the logo, but personally don't really like it very much.

It looks stupid. The name is stupid.

What does Sun Day even mean?

To me, Sunday Red makes more sense than Sun Day Red, but what do I know.

I don't mind the logo, it's Tiger's version of this.

I'd probably buy one of the regular golf shirts, but only if they are priced similarly to all the other options available.

Sundae Red!

Re: WM Open
Our neighbor is a former IL State Trooper with a lot of friends still in the business. He spoke to his friend (former CPD sergeant) who lives AZ and will work security at sporting events or concerts like this from time to time. My neighbor himself does similar details, and has worked the LIV event at Rich Harvest Farms. Walked with Harold Varner, Koepka, and Ian Poulter last year. Said HVIII in particular was super gracious and kind.

Anyway, neighbor's friend (SGT) who lives in the area knows the fire marshal down there that they were the ones who ordered the gates closed and stopped alcohol sales, not the tournament itself. The Fire Dept estimated that somewhere between 300K and 500K people may have been on site, which was not safe. Security and ushers were completely overwhelmed and stopped checking tickets. Even entrances to VIP suites and tents essentially became a free for all which lead to much public drunkenness. The bartenders and vendors really didn't know what was going on, they just assumed it was super busy. Most of them thought they were going to get the OK to serve again. SGT claimed it was "Like TBOX in Wrigleyville times a hundred, spread across 2-3 square miles" for a time on Saturday.

Obviously not sure if 100% true as I'm getting second and third hand information but I see no reason that this guy would lie to me, and it would explain quite a bit of what happened this weekend. My guess is the WM is going to be far more tame from here on out as it sounds like they really lost all control there for a while.

Tiger has a little work to do in order to make a run at the cut today. He made enough birdies yesterday but a few too many bogies and even a dead ass shank on his approach into 18. Hope he can make it interesting. A lot of the usual suspects scattered near the top of the leaderboard.

He looks old/beat up. Not talking about when he's actually swinging, but just as he walks around. Every movement has a very controlled "don't hurt anything" feel to it. (I've had back and knee issues, and understand the look......)

10 minutes later, he's leaving the course in a golf cart.
