He's back....

I'll be watching the Hero Challenge pretty closely. Honestly glad to see he is able to play again and maybe be competitive again.
Mostly I am just happy that he is not in constant pain. We will never see the same Tiger back but "Pretty good" Tiger could still
be competitive occasionally. Mostly interested to see how his short game and putting is.

Short game and putting are the two least interesting aspects of watching Tiger right now. Those are the two areas least affected by a bad back.

He's done and only fooling himself (and a few other people) at this point. He may have occasional great days, but there's no way his back can hold up for 4 straight days of golf, let alone a season.

Does he make the cut? Does his back hold out long enough for him to finish the tournament?

Actually he said that putting was the most difficult thing to do before this surgery. I assume he meant spending the time practicing putting.

There is no cut, so he will need to play four rounds.

And of the 20 players in the tournament, he has the 4th-worst odds at 25-1.

HOWEVER, his odds to win at least one major next year are only 14-1.

Those are the two areas that will determine if he will ever be potentially competitive or not. I really don't care if he can outdrive DJ or not.
What really made him a dominating player was his game from 100 yds in. He was quite possibly the best that ever lived with his overall short
game. For a guy with a bad back I would think you would have more empathy and root for the guy, but I know that would ruin your schtick.

yea, practicing putting for a long period of time is definitely taxing on the back. All that bending over gets to you pretty quickly. I was talking about actually putting in tournaments. His back wouldn't get in the way of that.

It's taking full swings, full practice swings and walking for 4 straight days that will end up being his undoing.

I do pull for Tiger. I cheer for anyone who's had a lot of back surgeries, consider them to be in the same club as me.

That doesn't change my opinion that is career is long over and he's fooling himself and several other people with these comeback attempts.

Who is getting fooled? I haven't seen one person say that he is going right back to being the best player in the world. Most, like me, just want to see him play again.

How many times have we seen Tiger say he is pain free or talk about how he is ready to compete? Remember when he posted that video of himself driving and he talked about how he looked to form again, only for him to withdraw from the first tournament back and have another surgery.

Not a chance in hell Tiger ever competes again. His Navy Seal training in conjunction with his violent swing in conjunction with fucking porn stars and prostitutes in conjunction with being on 20 different pain pills just to walk around will never let Tiger play competitively again.

Anyone who thinks he'll be able to compete again on the PGA tour is being fooled.

I'll admit to being sentimental about wanting the guy to come back even though it seems so unlikely. He lost a lot of good years and
the competition has caught up and passed him by. I just think if there is a guy who can do it and make it a hell of a come back story
it might be him. I'll be the first to admit that I had a case of "Kush-lash" when he was winning all the time and got a bit tired of Tiger.
Now with a little bit of time to reflect it is hard to believe some of the shit he was able to pull off. I may be blinded by stupidity but
this is the last chance for him and I hope it works out. Should be interesting to say the least. I honestly don't know if he could even
finish in the top 125 anymore, probably not, but I am rooting for him to try.

I just want to see him compete in a tournament. I think that's what most of us want. I don't get the impression anyone around here is being fooled.

 at Matt.

Just saw Tiger's swing - very compact, very upright. Much less torque involved. He even looked a little like Fred Couples walking off the teebox - very upright.

Love Couples' swing. It looks so casual and nonchalant.

Tiger continues to call for restricted flight golf balls for professionals. Bridgestone, his golf ball sponsor, echoing the sentiment.

 He didn't any problem with the ball flight when he was routinely hitting his tee shots 80-100+ yards past everybody else.

And he would rank about 64th in driving distance today with how far he was hitting it back then. The length of today's players are rendering classic golf courses obsolete. I agree that something needs to be done.
