Yes. A very small spinner.

I've caught bluegill on crank baits.

I would never have thought to try that.

Have you ever seen the little beetle spinners or very small rooster tails? Some of those are specifically designed for panfish. A mister twister with a small spinner does a good job too (you'll get some bass as well with that).

Yeah I have seen all the tiny stuff for that. I usually just thought it would be more trouble than plain old floating bait in front of their nose if pan fish are what you are targeting. Crappie are probably more susceptible. I usually would fish pan fish or bass due to the different baits.

It is. If you're targeting panfish, I'd still just go with a nightcrawler. I don't target them unless it's crappie to keep and eat.

i have a beetle spin kit that is like 15 years old. it was huge when i bought it. its dwindling down. i've caught so many fish on beetle spins, its crazy. gills, bass, and crappies. all just go nuts for it when you get the colors right.

Dumbass white folks turn up their noses at all kind of tasty fish. I recommend barbecued gar. Certified Fishified!

I can't view this picture on work computer, but it sounds promising.

HND - I caught a walleye yesterday on the river. Just set up a nightcrawler with a swivel and a couple of sinkers. I was so surprised at first (never caught a walleye in the Fox), I thought it was a skinny LM. Then I grabbed it by the mouth (whoops - that's a walleye!)

sautee'd in butter mostly. lots of butter. so good.

walleye love nightcrawlers. an old river rat that has taught me so much about walleye fishing only uses nightcrawlers at all times of year. typically most only use them may-sept. but he does so well at all times.

my only issue with them is they attract all sorts of garbage fish so its a guessing game when you set the hook.

but yeah, we catch a lot of walleye catfishing.

Took my son to our local pond over the weekend and saw a largemouth exhibiting spawning behavior. Never seen that in such a small space. Summer's coming.

Hit up Lake Evergreen yesterday, which is about 10 miles north of Bloomington-Normal. It was windy as hell, so I just tried to find coves with lots of tree cover and fished weedless. Caught a handful of average-sized bass on brush hogs in the shallows. They were biting, for sure. It's that time of year. Going to go back today and maybe rent a boat and troll some nightcrawlers for saugeye.

It's the year of the walleye for me. Went with my uncle this morning and caught quite a few, with a couple nice-sized ones that he kept. They are a beautiful fish. It's nice not to target bass all the time.

miss is a mess. hit it last night and the bite didn't get good until nighttime. we hit all the flooded areas that had street lights on them and found the walleye.

Went to a dinner two weeks ago in which all 4 courses were paired with morels in mind. They served over 120 lbs of them
with all the plates served, everyone got about 3/4 lbs according to the chef. I had never had them before but it was one of
the best meals I'd ever had. Not trying to hijack the thread but when I saw that pic I had to comment.

My wife's company had a fishing derby on Saturday. We didn't stick around for weigh-in, but we took the girls up. My 2 year old had fun holding her princess pole, and damn if it didn't catch a nice little 5 lb bass...almost broke the pole bringing it in.

I caught a 4 lb bluegill and a 3 lb bass on my cheapie Zebco 202 Slingshot.

What was nice was that the kids had fun, and my 2 year old wants to go again.

Oh, and no coyote...
