I liked Murph in the very early days of the Score when he'd only be on weekends, or for a half hour or so during the week after the HFC were done and before 820 had to sign off at sunset, sometimes getting overpowered by Texas Rangers or Dallas Stars games on WBAP for the last few minutes. Too baseball-centric and meatball, yeah, but back then it was part of the Score being a total package. Hated him in mornings though, his voice was grating at 6 AM. Although him and Fred weren't as bad as North attempting to be Imus.

And the various other Score personalities piling on him over the years was always gold. Especially Boers' impressions.

Sounds like his departure may have been abrupt, and unplanned.

Most likely. It's the start of the new year, ESPN is probably looking to cut costs, and there's no reason to pay 2 people to host at a time when literally nobody is listening.

Feder's column says he hasn't returned calls - sound like he was fired and the cover story was he retired

Is this really a big deal?

Murph retired? He was retired. He just did a Saturday show. They showed him the door, obviously. Cost cutting.

He might have been wrong. Hollywood people do some good by speaking out. I liked it anyway.

I just like the fact that he scolded rich/famous people. That was fun to watch.

Because all of those people in the crowd are used to having their asses kissed. That's why they had the shocked looks on their faces. Especially Tom Hanks.

I’ve taken my share of heat for being a Murph guy since I joined the board. Murph has had some health issues and I hope that is not the case now.

I actually liked Murph as well. He is a very smart baseball guy. Is he a weirdo? Yeah. Was he a jerk to Larry and Drinky as his producers? Yeah, I guess. Based on what they've told us. So what? Larry and drinky are jerks and weirdos as well. I don't care that they hated Murph.

In general, I liked the sports radio guys who started later in life and brought life experiences greater than the Neverland life of sports radio. Notice that the guys who studied communications and went immediately into broadcasting seem to hate these types.

Murph was unique as were the other early score guys. New Mac, Larry, McKnight, new Bernstein, Parkins, Speigel are all interchangeable, and cut from the same cloth.

So basically you disagree with their politics

They're all generic CBS sports radio ilk.

I think they all share a media-class baseline "Republicans Bad" but splinter off from there.

No idea on Murphy's political opinions, but the rest of them are liberals. From the things I have heard them say, they should probably stick to sports :-)

Is there anyone at the Score, in this age of talking politics, who is actually a Trump supporter? Seems to be against the rules there.

I predict... ding ding...

Don't care if Murph was a jackass to his co-workers. He put on a good show. I would listen if he started doing a podcast.

Murph's last year he did a complete reversal on Joe Maddon and started heaping praise on him each show. I'm guessing Jesse Rogers got to him to tone it down on his book buddy. Sad way to go out not being honest.
