Heartbreaking story. Just awful.

I don't see the issue with a colonoscopy. I know the idea of it scares people.

But you basically take a nap and wake up and never know the difference.

Quite frankly, I needed the rest.

A prostate exam is much more concerning.

Neither are much fun but having just had surgery to remove my prostate due to cancer, I’d sign up for a colonoscopy 100% of the time.

I always liked JD. Horrible story. Really feel for his son.

Such a sad and heartbreaking story.

Dan McNeil is going to be on ESPN 1000 at 8:30. I didn’t know that Dan brought him over to ESPN from 670.

How was the interview with Mac? Anyone hear it?

It was rough. They just said ESPN is paying for Parker's college.

I heard Mac at 8:30 on ESPN 1000. He was very sad and thoughtful. Told a few good stories about Jeff. It was nice.

That Gofundme for Jeff is up to $246,000. That's amazing to me. It's awesome. I bounced around to both stations today. Both ESPN 1000 and THE SCORE are promoting that Gofundme page. Because of that it wouldn't shock me if it got to 1 million before the day is over.

It's also kind of sad in a sense. Because Jeff was a public figure his family gets the help. There are so many nobodys in need that don't get help.

While the radio and social media promotions are helping bigtime, I think that if a local family had a young kid that lost both of his parents to cancer over the course of 24-36 months, a GoFundMe for that would have a chance to go viral as well.

JD was a terrific Bears reporter for a long time. I remember listening to him give training camp updates on Rex Grossman. That's how long he's been doing this. I think he started on the Bears beat when Jauron was the coach. MANY players respected JD because he didn't put a spin on his stories. He was also around before Social Media really took off and is probably one of the last guys of a bygone era where some of the reporters actually were friends with the players they covered.

The prevalence of gofundmes for medical costs and and other unexpected financial hardships (and their success mostly based on the social media reach of those that start them) definitely says something about the pathetic financial safety nets in our country, but still, good for Jeff's kid.

I don't remember the context, but Royko ended a column years ago with the line: "Life's not fair, but it shouldn't cheat this much ". Seems appropriate.

It’ll be great when Bernstein dies and all his old coworkers gather on air to talk about with affection how he told them he would never help them in their careers .

Bernstein dying will have a feel like Scrooge's death as shown by the Ghost of Christmas yet to Come. I don't think there is a soul alive who has warm feelings for him.

He is not good on the sidelines, but off the field Nagy seems like a genuinely good guy.

i listened to some of W&S with carmen in and it really got to me, bringing me back to the heyday of the mid-00's which was when i was able to listen to talk radio at my desk all day long at work. i was mostly an ESPN1000 guy, occasionally going to the score for B&B in the afternoons. WCKG/ESPN were my two go-to's between '04-'08.

they did some really great tributes. JD seemed like he was born old. to die at only 44...it's terribly tragic given what he had to endure his entire 40's.

And you know it was tough for him to say "Parker" since it sounds so close to Parkey.

Lawrence spent 5 minutes introducing the fact he was doing a JD tribute so before my car ride was over I only heard the beginning of him explaining how JD was his best friend on the beat... was his tribute worth listening too?

stacey dales did a nice concise job of sharing heartfelt thoughts on the AM show whoever the host was today on 670

If it's the one I saw, Rob Elgas also announced his Mom had it and he was getting a colonoscopy on Tuesday. He could barely get through it.

Felt bad for the guy.

Fucking imbecile.

I saw the condensed version on the 670 FB page, it was very sincere and well edited.

Leila's comments were also extremely sincere. Bernstein seemed subdued but didn't seem to have anything specific to say other than some thoughts about the son.
