The Bears podcasts have been very good so far. Hoge has been strong for a long time, and Moreano has continued to improve since his early days last year with the Chicago Audible.

This thing will crash and burn. I really hate Zawaski, but at least he was smart enough to keep his main job and just have this on the side. Herb is FUUUUUUUCKED when this thing tanks considering he gave up the job that actually pays him.

Totally agree on Herb. I wonder how much his not getting a slice of the Overnights pie factored into this. He should talk to Drinky and Finfer about their transitions out of the business. He's heading in that direction with this fly by night venture.

The production staff at the Score seems to be a bit of a revolving door. Herb will be able to get his old job back if/when CHGO goes belly up.

I heard Hoge claim that the DNVR podcast network has been successful so far. I wonder how many subscribers they have.

I give Herb some credit for taking a shot at something that has a higher ceiling than his previous gig. That producer job is a road to nowhere for 95% of the people who hold it. He can continue to hold it and complain when he's not promoted, try something like this, or quit and get a job working for a school like Finfer or Shepkowski. If this fails, I imagine that school route is still open to him.

Didn't Herb quit the Score a while back to be an Uber driver in California? It doesn't seem like defining a clear career path is one of his priorities.

I just checked this out and there were 13 people watching and I was one of them.

I hope it succeeds. I suspect it won't. But, it looks like a nice setup.

Takes time to build an audience but it seems like a short honeymoon with only 12 people on day 4. Whoever said it before is right.

They should have teased this for a few weeks with a couple of short videos of Olin and the other recognizable people to build up the anticipation and launch bigger.

They seem to be doing pretty well with their Bears live streams and podcast replays. Hoge and the Chicago Audible guys have pretty big followings; I'm not sure about their commentators for the other teams.

This seems like a very difficult model to make work. I have a few podcasts that I've listened to for up to 10 years now and they've started doing some Discord and YouTube streams and I'd like to listen but you never really know the schedule. So, I don't. And these are people I pay for premium content and I still don't seek out the live stuff.

I suppose I could research this and figure out what shows are on when but I'm not going to - and I'm what used to be called a P1 listener to sports talk. They need to make some kind of splash quickly.

daily sports talk has, maybe, a 24 hour shelf life

Hoge was guest hosting with Parkins today, so obviously Audacy is just happy to get rid of Herb.

Uhm...Are you no longer a P1 listener...or is P1 an outdated term like one of those he/she/it/they things?

I am not. I don't listen to sports radio any longer. I just come here.

And I should have been invited to be on this webio-type thing. I am personally offended.

The sports yakker in Dallas (The Ticket) WAY overuses the term "P1". It's beyond silly. It's actually good radio minus that one minor blurb.

I'd bet a lot that this flops and he winds up in his parents' basement in Palos. Unlike many here I've enjoyed Zawaski's coverage of the Hawks over the years but the two other guys on the Hawks podcast are beyond awful. Practically everything you can do wrong in a podcast, these guys do. Monotone, forced "banter", clearly fake laughter, awful sound drops, etc. They could be covering the Hawks of 1991 or 2013 and it'd still be a tough listen let alone with this shitty ass team.

Shit, sorry about my new thread about it. I guess I did it again. Didn't know the Zawawski news was broken here.

I agree. It's a bad move for him. He had security with a legit company.

I understand it for young single guys. What the hell? Not for an older guy like Jay with a wife and kid. It's a bad risk for him.

I heard him on the SCORE saying he's still a fan boy of the Hawks. So he's thinking it's cool he gets to go to the games for free and gets paid for it. That's not the way he should be thinking.

1. It's probably not that much money for a start up. Especially for his position - covering a bad blackhawk team that nobody cares about.

2. It's not a secure job.

3. Pretty sure that his wife isn't thrilled that his ass will be gone nights to cover the stupid blackhawks home games. I doubt they'll send him on the road. They don't have that budget. But it's still 41 home games. Plus his ass probably has to go to practices.

How is this any different than The Score? Just a bunch of bland personalities. There's probably tons of 20 something's doing Bears YouTube shows out of their parents basement. Why do we need another one?

The difference is the score probably has a better compensation package.

The CHGO Bears Podcast appears to be gaining traction. A number of their recent shows have 15,000+ plays on You Tube. That's an impressive number given the abrupt nature of the launch for the network and the fact that Adam Hoge is the show's main host and lead analyst.

Or they are buying plays.

I have watched. It seems pretty good to me. As someone said, there isn't an hour a day worth of content for each of the teams.
