Score ratings went flying off a cliff without Cubs play-by-play, down from 6.1 to 2.6. Conversely, Christmas music has 93.9 going from 2.9 to 6.3. Wait till the "holiday" book, which is the actual month of December (the December ratings book is November 3rd through 30th) when they'll be up around an ungodly 14.whatever.

Pretty much everyone's between a 2 and a 3.

Do you have the main male demo, which is their primary concern?

It's probably because their station sucks .

I think the "overnight" ratings are all Nielsen lets out publicly. Even Feder only gives out overall ratings for time slots, not by key demo.

Still, going from a 6.1 to a 2.6 has got to hurt, and I think might be indicative of a problem. Of the top 10 markets in the country, 5 of the respective market's top sports stations are doing a 3.0 or better (Boston's CBS sports talker did a 5.4) for the December book.

Of course, New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Philly and Boston all have regional football teams that are playoff bound or nearly-so, but they also likely don't have a lineup from 9am-6pm that will tell you how much of a racist and sexist pig you are.

Chicago Sports Talk radio has become mere background noise for me. I like M&H for a quick take on the Chicago games from the day before. I flip to ESPN afterwards and hardly listen.

Ratings bump is meaningless for the Score since all the increased revenue goes to paying the Cubs exorbitant fee. If anything it'll only get worse as the novelty of a Cubs World Series juggernaut wears off and people who aren't 80 years old use their phones to stream the Cubs.

I'm going to have almost three weeks of vacation coming up shortly and will have plenty of time on my hands. Thinking about contacting some of their sponsors (especially the ones geared towards males)and letting them know about the way some WSCR employees feel about their target audience. Particularly Big Red.

Yeah, The Youth Of Today really outsmarted everyone by electing to pay for a free product.

I get it. I prefer how you can use TuneIn and still gets Hawks on 720. But I'm not strapping a walkman to my belt. I'll bite the bullet and pay the $15.

Not to mention the data charges that attend streaming three hours of live audio every day.

The NHL is the only league that hasn't seen fit to charge for radio. I hope they keep it that way.

So the 6.3 proves people will listen to a radio if there is something compelling on there. They pay a bazillion $ for cubs but then hire a couple of chumps with no talent for peanuts and surprise! the rating collapse.
