Not unless you're just looking for an experienced black host. Hood has far more knowledge than Goff and arguably more than anyone currently on the radio in Chicago.

Isn't Hood still an ESPN employee? And he's also got that Sirus gig. his career isn't dead(anymore than at the score) more stuff can open up for him with the national network.

J Hood was not a possibility. Mitch wanted nothing to do with J at that time. No idea if that's changed.

Doug Buffone was not a consideration. Loved doing Bears/NFL pregame stuff with him more than 20 years ago, but he was not equipped to do all sports. His knowledge of/ and interest-in the NBA and college basketball was less than even mine!

Steve Rosenbloom was not a candidate. Mitch never suggested him and I never was desirous of a full-time partnership with him. He's a comfortable Saturday listen and as a bench guy... not what I would call a starter.

I wasn't desirous of Barry Rozner. I like Barry, but believe he's much better as a contributor than as a host.

Did I miss any other of your suggestions?

Rosenbloom was coming off that memorable pairing with Salisbury

Always liked Jonathon Hood...thought it was pretty dorky when they decided to "coolify" him with the "JHood" moniker. I didn't remember the Telander stuff. I just thought he was pissed because he was getting skipped over for better slots and either quit or was not renewed.

Were you just bored with sports radio? I doubt you actually thought it would be more challenging to talk for 10 minutes an hour around music being played. I don't blame you. North got bored and became politics radio. Bernstein got bored and became social issues guy.
