Could be? I know I still have residual resentment the the score let a showed I loved go so bad. Bernsie ends up thebtarget of that.

When did you love it?

Residual resentment is spot on for me. If B&G were some random show on ESPN I would mostly ignore all the talk of the show. But after having loved B&B for years, it pisses me off that Goff has turned that show and Bernstein into something I won't listen to. Hence, my continued shot-taking at the show.

You loved B&B but weren't a fan of Boers?

Not too long ago Dan and Jason discussed the "changing demographics" of their listener base, probably right after receiving these books from the Fall quarter and trying to spin some good out of it, so it looks as though Dan won't be able to bitch about the ratings without appearing to also bitch about that changing demo.

Not a big fan. By the end, Bernstein talked 65%-70% of the time anyways. I liked Rozner and Bernstein better than B&B at the end.

B&B was bad for the last few years as Terry (who really was the better half of the duo) checked out around the start of Penn State. He was literally phoning it in from that point forward.

i think (possibly a rehash) that bernstein attempted to use the penn st stuff to create a national name for himself. boers at his age wanted nothing to do with it. The problem is that bernstein had an unoriginal uninteresting voice in the whole thing and you knew he was a national nobody when boobsgate happened.

There has been speculation that the Bernstein-Goff show had strayed too far from sports talk and spent too much time on social issues. But that was some of the best radio on the station. For example, the pair aired a one-hour, commercial-free examination of the USA Gymnastics scandal featuring reporters who were covering the story.

 As one of the few that didn’t actually find the social issue talk a turn off, even I think this statement is dumb.

Describing the nature of the discussion doesn't necessarily describe its quality. I could say Mike North devoted an hour to examining nuclear physics. That wouldn't make it good.

You know a radio station has a stronghold in a market when it has a lead in the ratings, revamps its midday and afternoon lineup and stays in the lead one month later.

That’s what happened at 670 The Score, which shook up its midday and afternoon pairings March 14 under new leadership but increased its wintertime lead over sports-talk rival ESPN 1000 in the April ratings book.

In the key demographic of men ages 25-54, The Score finished 1.1 points ahead of ESPN 1000 weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the first three months of the year, according to Nielsen (5.3 share to 4.2). From March 29 to April 25, The Score was 1.5 points ahead (5.4-3.9). The May book will be released Monday.

It begs the question why changes were needed at all.

Because as you willfully fail to neglect, the Score beat ESPN in the aggregate by running up the (ahem) score on them in mornings and middays and then losing in afternoons.

Yeah the misrepresentation in these stories and narratives are telling.

Did the article mention Dan talking about his kid playing Fortnite? At least half the time I tune in that's what he's talking about, and I am not interested in hearing about either.

I hate Dan talking about that kid. More PTFB than rape or race talk.

I figured he played Fortnite . My kid was playing and he eliminated someone with the screen name OneScaredJew the other day .

the article makes it seem as if mitch rosen was on board with these changes.... say bruh metrics clearly believes mitch had no say in it. hmm....

Quote:
“You look at Matt Spiegel and Jason Goff, these are great broadcasters, these are great people,” Rosen said. “But sometimes you look at a ballclub, like a general manager looks at his team and goes, how can I tweak it? I’m going to try to make it different or make it better.

“These people did nothing wrong. This was just a time that change took place. It was a time Jimmy and I thought was best to do it. And the results we’ve seen have been fantastic. Data backs up that our listeners like our station. They’re listening to our station more than any other sports station in the market.”

so is bernstein responding to caller greetings now?

Quote:
Bernstein, who has been at the station since 1995, has ditched his trademark abrasiveness from his time with Score original Terry Boers. With McKnight, who won the station’s “Score Search” contest for an on-air job in 2009, Bernstein is much more affable.

Bernstein’s extensive vocabulary remains, and he and McKnight are excellent interviewers. Bernstein also finally found someone whose passion for analytics matches his. Though their similarities give the hosts a sameness, the show is interesting and insightful.

the other day i swear i heard mcdoink say that he's an english major so often times he's lost in a sea of #s with these analytics? but hey maybe it's the passion of the doink that gets him through the looking [monitor] glass to the promised land where he's so regarded as a bernstein clone that people just assume they're the exact same person in terms of their on-air personalities?

i'm honestly surprised this puff piece didn't go out of their way to call bernstein/mcdoink "the smart show" on the station [cue the "the more you know" drop here]

After reading that puff piece article, the only surprising thing to me is the realization that the Sun Times is still in business?

The author's mentions are predictably full of Schmutzie Underscore and the gang talking about how they'll only listen to Bernstein, if that, and the Score will fail without their listening. Of course, it's not as if Schmutzie was listening from 6 to 6 when it was North, Fred, Mully, Hanley, and Murph. It's quite a sight, these white men in their forties condemning the Score for chasing white men in their fifties.

Gee, look at Sarah Spain jumping in and getting fucking schooled and her excuse being “well I only skimmed the article” . Then shut the fuck up about it until you have the facts instead of being so eager to lend sympathy to poor Jason Goff.
