1000 isn't good for the listener who lives west of the Fox River.

Does 890 reach that far? 670 does right? I have no idea.

670, 720 and 780 have a long reach. Not sure about 890 as I never listen to that station.

670's reach is virtually limitless at night, same with 720. 890 is nominally a clear channel but gets a little weak. 1000 has to go directional at night and goes very hard to the east. During the day, 670 gets to at least Madison and Milwaukee to the north and at least St. Louis to the south.

890 has the same reach.

The problem with 1000 is they have to power down at night as there's a clear channel station in Seattle on the same frequency.

Of course, all this wouldn't be an issue if you could stream the games, but no, that's been MONETIZED, so you're a slave to the over-the-air signals.

I hope this is the end of Farmer. The Chairman is a big fan so probably not.

Farmer's been there through 670, 1000, 670 again, and 890, why would this be the end of him?

I can confirm this. I am quite a ways southwest of St Louis and I can get 670 and 720 easily at night. During the day it makes it to St Louis.

they carry a long way. When driving back from Montana I’d often pick up GN in Dakotas after dark.

I got little-less-than-fair reception of 670 and 720 in Jeff City during the day. Good enough where you can stand to check in on the game for a couple minutes but maybe not extended listening. The so-called Big 89 already gets dicey around Blo-No in the daytime; I'm not convinced they're really broadcasting at the full 50,000.

I wonder how 670 is feeling about its heritage contract

Probably however Entercom feels about what I'm sure is their giant contract for the Red Sox.

[quote][The Chicago Bulls are close to a deal to move their radio broadcasts to WSCR AM 670, according to insiders. An agreement could be finalized this week that would put the games on the Entercom sports/talk station through 2021. The Bulls and Chicago White Sox are losing their current radio home on news/talk WLS AM 890 as owner Cumulus Media seeks to emerge from bankruptcy by shedding unprofitable contracts. No word yet on where the White Sox will land, but likely destinations appear to be Tribune Broadcasting news/talk WGN AM 720 or ESPN sports/talk WMVP AM 1000.quote]

It's sooo 670 to sign another team's broadcast that was dropped for profitability reasons. A real forward thinking group

M&H teased a “special” announcement tomorrow morning. Look for the Bull to 670 announcement or these to fruitcakes finally come out of the closet. My money is on the Bull thing.

Picking up broadcast rights at a reduced rate may be a great business decision for them. And we are unlikely to know what they are paying, IF ANYTHING at all.

It doesn't seem to be very cost effective for the station to pay him whatever he is being paid when he's going to be on the air even more infrequently than he is now. In addition to being preempted for Bears All Access, the Cubs, Illinois basketball, and now the Bulls it would make more sense to put Shepkowski, Ostrowski, or whoever else they have sitting around there in that that spot.

I'm pretty sure it's only Hanley who's the fruitcake--this despite Mully's uncanny resemblance to Rosie O'Donnell.

White Sox on WGN would be as terrible a fit as could be. The Bulls on the Score doesn't offend my sensibilities, but if you thought Senor was an insufferable basketball nerd now...

Chicago baseball is best on WGN.
