-Bernstein and Parkins are safe. That's obvious.

-Goff and Spiegel aren't safe. That's obvious.

-Mully might want to quit and go back to writing. He's aged 100 years since he took the morning job. The reason he yells like an idiot every day is to keep himself awake. You can't watch late night sports and do a morning show when you're in your 50s. Especially with a wife and kids.

-Hanley is a little older than Mully. But he's got no wife or kids. So he can do it. I give Hanley credit. He didn't want to get the wife for the fake image like Larry and Steve Stone.

So the people that might be out are Goff, Spiegel and Mully.

Mac, Larry and some unknowns might take the spots.

I bet at some point Hanley and Thayer boned.

Great question

MANY times great deals are found in bankruptcy proceedings. It's a no risk deal for the Score with the potential to make some serious cash going forward.

Which is not a phrase you will read in relation to their Cubs contract.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/ba ... story.html

Acknowledging the pitfalls of moving to a new radio flagship in midseason and the effect on listenership in doing so, the Bulls and Entercom-owned WSCR-AM sought to partner in a way that minimizes the potential downside for both.

This, plus I doubt they are paying full price for this deal. As the Bulls needed a new home quickly, 670 probably paid a fraction of what 890 paid.

So the Bulls coming to the SCORE will prob be the changes. The rest of this will end up being much ado about nothing

Jason was gently ripping Jimmy today. Sounded like a guy who doesn't think he's going anywhere.

That doesn't mean much. Goff would be the last to know. And if he did know he was going, why not rip the guy that's gonna fire you? That's common in radio when they know they are going.

If you listened to Can't Do It today, you heard that Spiegel signed a new deal.

A caller asked Parkins which he would bet: that, in 2 years' time, his show would be called "Spiegel and Parkins" or "Parkins and [the Field]". After a pause that seemed to stretch on a bit too long, and getting the parameters straight, Parkins responded "Spiegel and Parkins". Spiegel promptly harumphed and mumbled something under his breath, to which Parkins replied "You just signed a new deal! It's two years so it won't completely overlap with [the question]..."

So there you have it, Spiegel signed a new deal recently, and given the bit about "overlap" I'm guessing it was for a term of 2-years signed sometime in the new year. Good for you, Spiegs, you still should have demanded an extension when Parkins was brought on, but at least you're set up for awhile.

15 pages of speculation and the payoff is finding out Spiegel can afford to pay his alimony for two more years.

No, the story is that Jimmy D used Mac to help reduce the cost of paper for all the folks who renew their contracts in January. He'll use some of the savings to reward Mac a little more.

I've said this before, I think Mac would be perfect as a once a week participant on one of the shows, the way Greg Cote (and before that, Stan Van Gundy) is used on Dan Le Batard's ESPN/XM radio show. Do that, host on Sundays from the weekend before the first Bears' exhibition game through the Super Bowl, and split vacation relief with Rosner and Hub.

They did have my guy Makhlouf down for 2 days and had him on with Larry for a good half hour in what I would have to assume was his on air trial. There is still no way they let the afternoon drive show be this awful going forward.
