Les was getting bombarded with nasty obscene prank calls from young males. They tried various strategies without much success. Now, he doesn't take calls from young males at all. Sometimes they'll be enough calls, other times it's an hour between calls. But, the thing is, calls are Les's whole show. Now it's a lot of him chatting with his wimp producer, constant play by play updates of on going games, or long and I mean long strolls down memory lane, constantly repeating stories from 30 years ago.

It gets interesting when Herb produces the beginning and of course Les backs down on his no politics talk stand and gives Herb the floor. And of course it's Herb bashing the NFL on kneeling for the anthem . I will give Les credit he actually stands up to him.

Les is also getting pissy with regular callers berating them. The show was never great shakes but it was late talk about current Chicago sports. Now it's Les trying to stay afloat also afraid not to step on any Cubs toes.
It is what it is. Les with his boatload of faults is still better than when Parkins filled in for him for a week trial before his day gig. That was a disastrous endless monologue. David Schuster is very good filling for Les actually having some sports knowledge and talking about other entertainment.
I guess with all the bs at least it's not CbS sports radio.

I feel bad for Les having to deal with Herb. Les should send him back to Uber.

Les should do his show while driving for Uber. No callers, just passengers. Have to let Herb sit up front because there's no way Herb's sitting in the back of any vehicle.

Uber Confessions on HBO sponsored by Polecatz.

It's kind of sad what Grobber's become. During his original run on the Score he was the king of overnights, never got any fact wrong no matter how obscure, let the callers have their say and was the only one at the time who'd engage people on teams besides the Bears, Cubs and Bulls. Now he gets things wrong and is Nate Clay-esque fodder for prank callers. Guess nothing lasts forever.

Grobber's Sunday nights after Bear's games are terrific... win or lose.

Raw, unfiltered emotions from meatball fans who have been drinking since 9 am.

When Les is cranky, that is especially great radio.

Good stuff.

Wonder what the score can do to fix les's overnight slot? Used to be non-stop callers and was somewhat interesting if Les would let them talk. Now it's endless rehashes of repeated stories of yesturyear. They could give Les a Twinkie with a candle on it and find a new host? Might be a slot to dump Julie in to get her to quit eventually till they find a host.

Might pick it up if Les just let the callers talk without the constant interruptions and this reminds me of what happened 30 years ago stories. There are still some interesting callers but they're dwindling getting fed up with not getting 3 words in before Les cuts in.

I think if Les started drinking hardcore then the show would improve

I think alcohol should be the fallback for all under performing radio hosts. They have nothing to lose. Just ask Steve Dahl, the moment he stopped drinking was the moment he started sucking.

I like Les but his show seems like a sports update every 15 min. it gets repetitive at times.

He's basically just killing time with repetitive updates, and over and over and with the same old stale stories. The obcene prank calls were coming so fast and furious now he's in panic mode.

I'll say one thing for Les though , he gives one of most honest appraisals of Joe Madden on the score other than rozner.

and then the daytime shows make fun of his flubs, as if anyone else would do better with a show that long during the graveyard shift

Most of the other hosts on the station act like they worked 16 hours waiting tables if they have to work an extra hour.

Les is the man! He's a sports geek and he doesn't hide it. He works his arse off and loves talking sports without talking down to his callers. There's nothing to debate

Ostrowski practically gives birth if he has to host a show at all.

Les is back on podcast after quite a few years. He announced it several times but the final announcement at the end of the show he showed some anger that it's on podcast " like everyone around here". Podcast is perfect for the show so the listener can ff the strolls down memory lane and repetitive stories getting right to the phone calls and occasional interview. I remember listening to the podcast when Ron Santo died and it was very touching hearing callers and Ron's buddies talk.

99% of sports talk has a shelf life of a day or less. It doesn't really need a podcast.

I suspect a corporate-level misunderstanding of this principle is why Bernstein & Goff often felt like a podcast that also happened to air live on the radio: niche topics, no sense of discipline, interviews but no calls. "Hey, podcasts, people like those, be more like that." But if I wanted to listen to that, I would, not a facsimile of it with 25 minutes of dick-repair commercials.

I think your first sentence is true, and your second sentence is false.

Sports talk is best consumed when you need a little bit of a distraction. For some people, that happens to be during the time a show is on. For others, it is later that day or the next morning.

what does that mean? He no longer has the late night radio show or he's has both podcast and radio?

The radio show is podcasted to listen to later on. Hasn't been for numerous years.
