Was Campbell eligible for the buyout? An acquaintance of mine on the non-journalism side took the buyout at 56 after a couple of decades there.

yes, but I'm not convinced Nagy could call plays adequately even with an acceptable quarterback.

I was really disappointed to hear the news that Rich Campbell is leaving sports journalism.

As others have said, he is a fantastic beat writer and has an amazing radio presence. His combination of vivid description and thorough, level-headed analysis made him mandatory listening and reading. His coverage of the Bears really enhanced my understanding and enjoyment of the team over the past few years. In my mind, he ranks as one of the top three or four Bears beat reporters/analysts over the past three decades.

That's too bad...enjoyed his work with Washington DC and then Chicago. You guys were lucky to have both Biggs and Campbell. The guys covering the Raiders are awful.
