From the Score no less. Its ironic that the score really doesn't have callers call in any longer. I remember how they made a huge about that when they first started. All of the hosts used to bash the hell out of the Chetster for failing to allow callers to call in and now they have gone to that format as well.

I know it started years ago but I have listened a little over the past few weeks and it still feels odd since that was always an integral part of their marketing pitch. "Fans talking to Fans". That was always used as a means of jabbing ol Chet and now they basically use a similar format.

Was this a pre-produced segment or just the hosts talking about him in general ?

Nah just me talking about something that I notice whenever I listen to the score these days. To go from being guest intensive to where they are now is quite the contrast Especially so considering they used to beat Chet's head in with it all the time.

Of course none of those guys are around these days including Chet of course.

None of these guys can push product like Chet could in his prime. Ah, gotta love Diet Coke...

"Dangerous, there's a shake at The Stick..."

The Score - "Your dime, my dancefloor...."

They mostly resort to taking texts instead of calls.

"Uh Huh"

I will never forget listening to Chet's show one night and he had Boers on and I believe one of his rare callers to the show. They were talking about the Cubs/Sox North/South stuff and the difference in the level of Buzz between the two teams.

The caller was going on and on about how much everyone loved and wanted to be like Sandberg. Then he brings up Ivan Calderon and asks "Who wants to be like Ivan Calderon"? Boers chimes in and says "Not even Ivan Calderon"

Mac voicing Chet.
Mac voicing Swirsky.
These never get old for me.

Now...can we please bring back the Button 48 drop?

The younger guys they have tried (McKnight, Holmes, Parkins) that were heavy influenced by Bernstein's "Smart fans Station" approach to sports talk radio do not possess the ability to provide the type of entertaining content the station once easily produced. If the dynamic duo of Parkins and McKnight were ever to team up for an on air shift it would sound exactly like a nationally syndicated sports talk show. The product continues to lose the personality driven uniqueness that once differentiated it from everything else in the sports media industry.

Along those lines, when there used to actually be sports, Dickerson and Hood have one of the best national weekend shows because they can shift back and forth between interviewing and being lovingly meatball in a way a good local show can.
