what happened to don and roma? weren't they like the #1 morning show when they were on? Always surprised me because I tuned in a few times and the show as complete shit. Don seemed always so unhappy.

Jay Marvin was fucking awesome in his first stint at WLS, then he went to Denver and went through a bunch of shit on and off the air, and came back to Chicago more mellow and eventually downright boring.

Roe & Garry were the best show in Chicago in the early 2000s after B&B. It wasn't the same with Roeper, who's a good enough writer but was always death on the radio.

Yeah, actually his second stint at WLS was longer than his first one. At first he tried to come back with the Shootout and Grant Park as sidekick, but the times had already changed. Eventually WLS moved him to middays and paired him with awful, shrill harpy Eileen Byrne. Even though he'd mellowed out a lot he was still too liberal for WLS management and they canned him at I think the end of 2005.

Nate Clay was great. I loved his show . wasn't it like Saturday nights? He really should get some credit in helping people understand black issues way before social media and the internet existed.

Back then Roe seemed like the only non maladjusted host on the station. They always seemed like a strange bunch. And Don and Roma seemed especially unhappy.

The years when they faked like they weren’t married always ruined their show in terms of credibility for me. One liberal and one conservative is obviously possible but the lie made it seem like it was all an act. I remember rolling my eyes when Don would talk about taking the El in to work and asking Roma what she did over the weekend. Just stupid.

Never got the appeal of Roeper.

When he repacked Siskel I was like this guy doesn’t have a national presence like siskel did.

Roe gets whacked from his WGN gig at 7pm the Friday of a three day weekend. Not unexpected in that his contract was up at the end of the year. He's been replaced by an inoffensive news guy, probably until they see how November goes.

You think that Nexstar should taking the big swing and bring in Senor Columnist to educate the masses from 4-7 weekdays? He wouldn't even have to talk much sports since WGN wants to get rid of both the Blackhawks and White Sox.
