No thanks. Rongey is horrible.

Kind of surprises me that he got fired. Cuz Bernstein had always said that Rongey's show did huge numbers in St. Louis.

Maybe it was just the ESPN cutbacks cuz of Covid like you mentioned.

I think the way these sports stations will go is to only have solo hosts. Why pay 2 or 3 to do the damn sports talk when you can just pay one?

I enjoyed him in that format. But the tone of the show would be quite different now. And on ESPN to boot

He was a really good guy and a pretty good pre and post host here. The job made him nutty at the end.

I’d like to see him back with Bernstein. That would be enough for me to check out that show occasionally depending on the topic. He did some guest days with Parkins a couple weeks ago so the skids have been greased for a return. Bernstein/Rongey and Parkins/Spiegel would be some good pairings for the station.

It had to be real rough to be pre- and post- for the flagship of a dogshit organization. I know for a fact he was coddled by and enjoyed the treatment from WSI, though.

Turns out they gave his job to some pylon from the late '90s Blues.

Looks like St. Louis doesn't have as many sports talk stations as it did for a while there. I think they're down to two from four or five (plus KMOX).

I actually loved that show. His frustration and arguing was like a poor man’s B&B.

i slightly remember him just because how he use to say his name. he seemed like a decent guy. i think he did updates when I heard him.

anyone that just sticks to sports these days and not SJW or politics is good in my book.

Rongey getting ambushed by angry, passionate Sox fans after a drubbing, taking calls post game, and trying to toe the company line was great radio. And he took a ton of unfiltered irate calls unlike ZZ Cubs. It got pretty heated. It usually ending up in him giving a sermon how "you people just don't get it".

Yes, hearing Ranger try to justify giving more DH ABs to Mark Kotsay was cringe-worthy radio.

It was like when The Score brought on Pat Mannelly to host, and he flat out refused to say that the Bears were bad or performed poorly.

I guess at least with Rongey you could tell he wanted to say it.
