Tom Dore on a Saturday had a similar show on the Score years ago. He talked about guys he played against, and got some great calls.

Fred is a solid Berwyn guy. His parents probably had ten bank accounts on Cermak back in the day. He gets the ex-SportsPhone ethos in the same way that Shuster and Shorty George and Gleason (and Memolo in NYC) did, but he's better with guests and callers.

Murph vouches for Fred. Fred is good w/ me then.

He's the only guy that was able to work with Murph and not feel the need to spend years and years airing behind the scenes grievances.

He also was able to work with North on the ill fated Mike North Morning Show.

He's the guy that should write a book about his experiences trying to survive in sports talk radio.

I really despised Fred's work during his two morning show iterations. He was always billed as an equal but played the role of subservient yes man. I get it. He had moved his way up humping it through the fringes of sports coverage for 20 years and finally had a piece of a day part show. He ended up having decent staying power in the mornings at the Score. I think he was on for almost a decade. I just didn't respect his work as the Sox guy in the Cubs-Sox show or the not raging right wing racist on whatever North's show was supposed to be.

I've grown to appreciate Fred.
