You guys have mentioned most of the best of the worst.

Personally, I really despised Salisbury and this board actually contributed in running Uncle Rico out of town. He was a loathsome individual and a bad sports talk host.

North and Maxwell was painful...

Sean Salisbury was God-awful, but I like Rosenbloom, so I wouldn't put that as the worst...makes the team photo.

Mine in order
1. Rick Telander Show
2. Jay Mariotti Show
3. Mike North Morning Show
4. Salisbury and Rosenbloom

The moral of the story is that numerous radio program directors assumed that someone who could write for a newspaper automatically could automatically translate into a radio personality. I cannot even come close to understanding why anyone thought Rick Telander would make for an acceptable radio host. The guy had absolutely zero entertainment value and character appeal. It was easily the worst show that was ever introduced.

Spiegel and Mannelly were pretty bad too.

Mannelly was different for me because I sensed he was a pretty good guy who realized maybe this radio thing wasn't going to work out, he seemed self-aware about it.

I got the impression that once Mannelly realized how petty and fake many of the people at the station were he decided he didn't want any part of it.

I remember Bernstein saying to him "Agree with me and you'll look smart."

I don't hate Mannelly. However, he is inextricably tied to Bernstein lauding management for hiring on air people with college degrees and exclaiming it to be the era of smarter radio.

Les had an afternoon show on am 1000. He proudly said Mike North told him he was the only host the Score feared in a ratings battle at his station. I'm guessing North was pulling his leg.

I'm seeing a lot of "B&B during Penn State," but I have to disagree. I didn't think things were that bad then. It was what started Dan's "heel turn" on this board, but it wasn't until Derrick Rose blew out his ACL that he truly became Senor Columnist and the show drove everyone here, yours truly very much included, completely insane. Still, at least we were having fun together. Bernstein & Goff is arguably the worst show in Chicago sports talk history in that in many respects it ended sports radio as we know it. They told people not to listen and now people don't.

But I dunno Hamp & Holmes was really fuckin' bad too

I've never hated a show like Bernstein and Goff. Other shows like Bernstein and McKnight I just gradually stopped listening to. With Bernstein and Goff I remember having a moment of clarity asking myself "why am I listening to this shit when it just makes me angry?" I had been a daily Boers and Bernstein listener for years but Bernstein and Goff got me listening to Spiegel and Parkins which then became Mac and Speigel and now Parkins and Spiegel. Goff is still an immediate PTFB for me when I hear him on the radio. Most of the other shows mentioned on this thread I barely listened to. It wasn't until shows became podcasts that I started sampling other shows that air when I'm at work.
