They actually do still own that! It's where they'll broadcast if the world ends or something.

WSCR's stick is in Bloomingdale off Army Trail. Problem with divesting that land is that they twinned it with WBBM's when they sold WBBM's land off the Eisenhower/Elgin-O'Hare cloverleaf. They gotta take up space somewhere; you can't put them up on the Sears and Hancock like FMs.

Someone went dumpster diving there recently and found all sorts of ephemera, like old spot carts and Saturday Morning Flashback scripts. I'm laughing at the idea of a man cave where next to all the framed jerseys and front pages is a mounted Heavenly Bodies cart.

You guys are always fi$hing for a humblebrag post! Well give the people what they want- I have enough loans out to Adams County folk.

But if I bid on it and win, I am having CH talk over for Mitch, and we are creating marketing around Scot. “Some guys will never listen wink wink”

I found Saint Mary of the Woods through your indirect recommendation back in, well, 2015 if my mp3 metadata is correct. Thanks for that.

could've been me, but might've been JORR, he's pimped a lot of good tunes, including Tropical Fuck Storm. TFS took me down a yt rabbit hole of current day Aussie music (Australia, where rock and roll lives/thrives) and Amyl and the Sniffers; eventually leading to the collab between the chick from Amyl and the S'ers and Viagra Boys. Viagra Boys are the best new band (for my tastes) I've come across in years.

Tried to shoehorn in the had to leave Texas/Illinois but he won't say why line but it wasn't lyrically adjacent in the song.

That was on St Mary of the Woods, didn't recall it being on there right off; been compiled to so many live and best of sets since then. Plus who buys entire albums anymore yano. But makes sense as that's sorta McMurtry's speed/meth album, in terms of lyrical content. Observational-not-experiential, hard to imagine Larry McMurtry's big-brained son railing meth.

Does the WSCR brand have any value at this point?

People used to recognize "The Score" name back in the day, but not sure if anyone cares anymore, but as a recognizable name that helps differentiate you in the podcast world it would seem to have at least some name recognition.

Maybe Mitch Rosen finally gets to build a podcast brand that micro focuses on the very small, niched audience he seems to want of "smart fans" that only want to hear sanitized sports takes via the approved SJW filters? There could even be a litmus test with a stringent access window to keep out all the undesirables, you would have to either answer questions correctly on an ideological profile test or be a member on an approved group to gain access.

An NPR type sports gabfest, kinda what Bernstein has wanted to do all along.

Chicago had to be a weak market for Le Batard: just like Stern never made an impact in the market because we already heard Steve Dahl do it, the whole concept of "the sports talk show that knows sports is stupid so it just goes up its own ass for self-amusement, and also, social justice" was afternoons on the Score for a decade. Did 1000 even clear him?

Yep. Buy it on the cheap. Use the real estate like you said. Don’t rent offices or studios anymore. Make the hosts broadcast from home. No more partners. Just have one host per show. Make them do a 5 hour show. Do all that, the new owner makes a profit.

The money is in leasing the radio towers. That is why these consolidations happen so often.

No, Le Batard was not live in Chicago, they may have rebroadcast him in the evenings at some point.

Yeah, as I suspected, we already did "YOU DON'T GET THE SHOW" in 2006.

The bankruptcy filing is in fact prepackaged. They are reducing the $1.9 billion debt load to $350 million. The debt holders will own the company.

It further noted that unsecured creditors will not be impaired. Employees will of course get paid as normal.
