This was kind of cool. You don't see this much with broadcasting partners doing games.

Ian Eagle is a guy doing a Kevin Harlan impression, who himself is a guy doing a Marv Albert impression.

Good thing we're catching up to this after 11 years.

I like Ian Eagle and don't care if he's derivative of Marv Albert or Kevin Harlan. Both of them are/were great.

And the faux acrimony between Marv and Fratello, which this "incident" is patterned after, was absolutely hilarious, too.

Man, even this was ripping off Marv?

Eagle isn't bad, sometimes I'm just not in the mood. I was listening to Browns-Texans on the radio when Flacco threw a second interception and Eagle went "IT'S A PICK PARTY!!!" and, you know, just not in the mood.

His kid is a perfectly acceptable replacement level announcer…

But I hate him. He’s a knockoff of the knockoff of the knockoff.

i almost closed the window it was so cringey. sheesh.
update: it's from 12 years ago and ian is claiming it was a bit? the score being 87-74 with 2 min left in the game should have been the first clue it wasnt a recent nba game.

The first clue that this wasn't recent was the New Jersey Nets were playing.

It would seem there are occasions where the color guy and play by play guy do not get along.

The NBA does seem to have its share of crusty old ex-coaches doing color commentary on national and big market broadcasts, but also have noted that the local small market broadcasts often are still in ticket selling mode, so they have sympathetic ex-players and more homer type play by play people who are more interesting hyping up the star players than breaking down footwork on screens or defensive rotations.
