well, I don't care enough about my point to look it up, but I've heard over the Score airwaves on multiple occasions that the Chiefs were a chic pic amongst experts to make it to the Super Bowl.

During one of his segments with B&B, a caller asked Hub if Jim Harbaugh was going to be the next coach of the 49ers. Hub gave his dismissive, condescending chuckle and said that Harbaugh would never work for the York family. A few days later Harbaugh was announced as the 49ers' new head coach.

Before the Bears got Cutler, Hub said it would be a mistake to get Cutler. When the Bears pulled off the trade, he denied ever saying that.

This guy is staight out liar and somebody that always says two different things in one sentence.

Hub is the best. I love the guy.

What does Hub know about the league? When SF started like 8-1 or whatever last season he said they were getting it done on toughness and ditka-isms. That's some pretty terrible analysis. He also said the defense's performance was unsustainable because they would lose guys to FA. They brought back all 11 starters this season.

Hub doesn't really know much about the NFL, for how much he's paid to know about it. His answers are often wrong, contradictory, and/or ripe with cliches without actually positing any type of useful information. He's pretty much a terrible nfl analyst. B&B might be equally bad at analyzing the nfl, but they also occasionally make me laugh and it's not their job to be nfl "experts". Yet.

It's not even that he doesn't provide any great insight. I'm stunned at just how flat out wrong he is on a lot of NFL issues for a guy that's been covering it for 30+ years. His stupiditiy is alarming.

He didn't deny saying it. I posted the audio to my channel. He admitted to debating with Hampton about why they shouldn't get Cutler.

With Hub its about perspective and perception. Take the 49ers, as others have chronicled here. Harbaugh wouldn't get the job, and then he did. In 2011, Hub couldn't explain the earlly success of the 49ers last season, so he dismissed it as a scheduling fluke. Then he went with a few cliches to explain Harbaugh's success, and finally predicted limited short term success. Now its 2012 and Hub talks like he cracks brewskies with the Harbaughs while proclaiming them the best team in the NFL. But if they falter he will play his Alex Smith card. His perspective is that of a front runner and a person with access to a little more information than you, so that's what he wants to talk about. That's the essence of the chuckle.

As for perception, I can't forget how McNeil & Boers used to do the *companyman* cough whenever Hub's name came up. Bernstein also affected a mocking stance to Hub in his early days, having just transitioned to his show after being the Bears beat reporter. Hub is with SCR but my perception of him is essentially the same as a little guy questioning where I played my ball and dismissing my question with a chuckle.

Want to have fun with Hub? Read PFW and then pose question based upon positions in PFW that contradict or question him.

I don't mind bad predictions (though I'll poke fun when they are hilariously bad). I do mind bad analysis. Hub is just wrong on the facts way too often to be taken seriously. I doubt he has much sourcing outside of the Bears organization and maybe the other NFC North teams. And he lets a lot of garbage through to print, not just from his own pen, but from the pens of those he employs. He could get away with that kind of sloppiness in the age of three magazines and no internet. Nowadays, when your draft lead story is "Cam Newton will be a bust because of his disingenuous smile," you look like a damn fool, and the entire country can talk in real time about how much of a fool you look like.
