Hate to say it, but she's 100% right. I've had this same complaint about rankings.


I personally feel that if you lose to a higher seed on the road and don't embarrass yourself in the process, your ranking should not go down. Why should you be penalized for losing to a team you are supposed to lose to? There's a reason they were ranked ahead of you in the first place.

Because such a system would only reward upsets, and tacitly endorse mediocrity by ensuring the only way a Top 25 team could lose their T25 status is by losing to an unranked opponent.

That's not true. there are plenty of ways a team can drop in the rankings. Get blown out by a higher ranked team. Get beat at home by a slightly higher ranked team.

But what I don't understand is if a team is #2 or #3 and they go on the road and lose in OT to #1 why should that team drop in the rankings? They're not supposed to be able to beat the higher ranked team. A team ranked #4 shouldn't jump ahead of them solely on the back of a loss like that.
