Julie also needs to understand that GoFundMe is a horrible medium for quid-pro-quo revenue generation for new media. A bunch of podcasts (and YouTubers) have very successful Patreon pages whereby people can "subscribe" to some outlet's content for a monthly fee, and in return they get some nominal bonus (a shout-out, early content, extra content, and so on). Forget a $5000 total, there are places making $10,000 a month.

Even if they hit their goal, RE20's ain't cheap, and there's, what, 5 or 6 of them? That's $2500 in mics alone. Even then, they'll all get new mics, shitty boards with no audio processing gear, and still call each other on Skype. At the end of $5000 of audio gear, they'll still sound like crap.
