What does this have to do with Mac being out at the drive?

I wonder what my wife is cooking for dinner tomorrow? Probably nothing since I complained that she overcooked the chicken today.

I met the indian dude from the simpsons the other day while getting a cherry slurpee. Gonna save it and refill it for free when they have bring any container to seven eleven day and fill it up for free.

Or maybe I will bring a water jug. You think that would be too heavy to carry?

Oh look a rainbow. I love rainbows!

Maybe pump the brakes a bit there Chumley.

Or maybe Mac can do little 10 minute hits on bad talk radio like Steve Cochran and Big John Howell the way Chet does occasionally to make himself believe he's still in the game.

Zawaski and Shep are crossing their fingers. They can't wait to get away from Speigel and Goff and return to Daddy.

You know Goff ain't sharing any bonuses when he's got to keep the crib 100 for his playas. And money is tight for a single parent like Spiegel.

The question is..... Is Mac willing to go back for the offer they will give him and will the leash in the contract be long enuf?

We all know he thinks he's worth certain amount, and we all know he wants a certain amount of freedom to say what he wants.

He is a guaranty to get ratings in the short term but are the suits willing to take the bet?

I hope the do because ive followed him from 1000 to 670 and will listen again on a am frequency.

670, 720,890,1000 somebody take a chance

Mac seems like an okay guy, but who gives a shit about his free agency? He's past his prime and has bad sports thoughts, anyway. How about if this city actually finds some new talent that isn't comprised of vanilla douchebags? There are plenty of people who post on this very site that are more interesting than these turds.

I truly was wondering when someone would go in on the "man", the "myth", the "legend", that is Dan McNeil. His bit became tiresome and boring for me years ago. One of the main reasons that I stopped listening to sports radio. His everyman routine never really moved me much and his constant references to 70's and early 80's pop culture became stale after awhile.

His tendency to always challenge authority renders him nothing more than a malcontent who can't seem to work with anyone. Was there ever any doubt that this would end badly?

He also was one of the leaders of the anti-sports movement that you see on SCR today. Didn't have much interest in any sport other than football and even that waned as the years went on. There also was for me a tacit bit of racism to his broadcasts.

I have listened to McNeil going as far back as the Chet days and I never have thought that there was much there. He used to deliver ratings wise which is the Number 1 barometer I guess. I don't really think that he can deliver much these days. He is nothing more than a misguided relic from the halcyon days of sports radio.

MJH was awesome and a must listen back in the day. Waddle is about as close to being Tiny One (in terms of the guy you can sort of pick on in a fun manner)

Unless Tiny would be able to come back and get the original band back together.

It's over. It ain't 2001.

As I said before, what Mac would we get regardless of the station? 1/2 of his last stint at the Score was a depressing surrender. No fire, no passion, a tank left empty. You think you'd get fiery Mac back?

Iove the Mackeroo, but the sream is dead and buried.

I think that he's still got some gas left in the tank. I think an MJH type of thing would re-vive him. I just think the parameters would have to be made crystal clear in any contract about conduct or any of that stuff. He might have been happy at WDRV for awhile maybe, but I never really felt it was the right fit as far as a show goes.

Point taken, the dreamer in me agrees. Get him a solid pairing that doesn't kill his spirit (anywhere BUT the Score can this take place) and he thrives. A spirit awoken, a bkner pulsing with blood and semen.

I'm in.

Prepare to be disappointed. Too bad he hates basketball - him and Derrick Rose have a lot in common when it comes to showing up for work.

It's a perfect time to be a basketball atheist host in this city. There isn't much to talk about and what is there will be depressing for a number of years.

In this instance, the one would be permanently concussed is Mitch Rosen.

Agreed with Jeff in that I'd bet Mac has a little left in the tank. BUT....I doubt it would be a good long-term investment. He's proven across 3 stations that he is a bad employee. Period.
ESPN1000 - They will not bring him back. They don't need him. they have their "yes" men and their national play nice watered-down vanilla shows. They will not want any part of him.
WSCR - Pairing Mac back with Spiegel is a yawnfest. Some will have interest, but it sucked the first time and will continue to suck now. Boers will retire. Good or Bad, the station still lives and dies with Bernstein, which means he gets the afternoon drive slot. Mac Mornings? I don't see this happening. I don't care for M&H but it's working for them after a long stretch of morning shows that sucked.

Once upon a time I really enjoyed Mac on the radio, but h lost his fastball years ago. I'm sure he could be good again with the right partner, but I don't trust any Program Director to figure that out, nor do I trust Mac to not screw it up in a short period of time.

Since Elmhurst Steve is Mac's "friend" I'm sure he'll give us the scoop.

MJh was really the first sports show I listened too and it was great. When he left ESPN radio and showed up on the score, most of us were excited thinking he would be on a mission to destroy ESPN and well when he wasn't put in drive time he seemed to go into autopilot.
Maybe if he gets the afternoon spot he might be better, I would hope so but it has been almost 10 years since he was relevant.

Their ratings got a huge bump up last month due to the Cubs. I think they did a 4.2
