Good or Bad, the station still lives and dies with Bernstein

Based on their ratings, I'd say they are dead.

Their ratings got a huge bump up last month due to the Cubs. I think they did a 4.2

Yup, up from a 3.2 last period. B&B's timeslot still only did a 3.5, up from a 2.4.

Exactly. Not due to B and B.

Book? Coffee table book featuring sports johnsons?

McNeil prolly got a buy out of the time remaining on his contract. That they waived the non-compete means
it likely wasn't anywhere near the balance due to him under the original deal.

If WSCR wants to get serious about competing successfully in the sports talk game, they need to make dramatic changes, including getting rid of Bernstein and bringing Mac back. Sweeping changes are needed.

4.2 is much lower than 1000.

So, dramatic changes means bringing back a guy who has been around for ages and firing the show with the highest ratings?

WSCR needs to keep doing what they're doing; which is replace high-priced talent with lower cost talent. rinse. repeat.

I thought Mully and Hanley were consistently bringing in the highest ratings on WSCR?

The Cubs should get rid of Rizzo and bring back Durham.

They are. Consistently (last 2 months) at a 3.6. B&B needed Cubs baseball to boost them into the mid-3's in afternoon drive (they were a 2.4 in April), but even then they're not beating M&H.

it's a crappy show and the ratings in the afternoons are probably improved only because on the days Cubs baseball is on, their ratings soar. Mac is one of the best sports talkers around still. Give him a GOOD partner (NOT Spiegal or Hood) and his ratings would be great. ESPN is the far better station and only the fact that the Score now has Cubs games, makes them relevant. Horrible lineup.

But Mac can only really talk 2 sports... How is he one of the best sports talkers? Tbh, he's average at best. The way he treated the Score during his last run was remarkably lazy, and exemplified just how far away from the term team player an employee can be. To think he's somehow found the motivation to breathe life into an already (relative to the dying medium) successful sports station is... I can't even think of the word for it, but it's a bad take. Historically bad.

Mitch: Mac is available. He only wants $300k

Baldy McBossy: Recession contracts only.

Mitch: But he brings HUGE ratings! He'll be worth it!!

Gap dressed exec (Baldy McBossy's boss): Well we have to run it by Theo.

Theo: Fuck Mac. We only want cheap Cubbie Chubbies shills on WCUB. By the way, I thought you were hiring Murph back.

Gap dressed exec (Baldy McBossy's boss): Yes sir, we're trying.
