1pm? He must take the loooong way home.

Supertramp off Breakfast in America, Chicago!

I think bigfan's post means that "our" Mac doing the show without McMurray would have been sufficient.

Ah, thanks, CH. Glad you haven't offed yourself yet.

With BigFan being buddy-buddy with Mac, figured it was an extra Blackhawks ticket or a spot in a NCAA pool.

dude... it's halo. it's a first person shooter, so if you know the name of one guy in the game.... well who the hell could it be?

the only fps game where you remember a non-the-dude-you-play-as character outside of nerdish pursuits is hitler from wolf3d. seriously that's about it.... but then again i pretty much tapped out of the FPS / 3d accelerator / PC MASTER RACE! scene right after quake 3 and a touch of unreal tournament so don't mind me. maybe in bioshock you get a lush movie-load of memorable characters that make you go "wow, this isn't like duke nukem 3d at all..."

Again, in my drive in today there was 30 seconds of Dan giving some canned description of Clapton which lead right into another song.

As I drove in to work and heard 2 seconds of Springsteen's "Hungry Heart" before switching the station, one word came to mind: erosion.

Maybe over the course of time, the number of songs they play will diminish (erode, if you will), the muzzles will come off, and the 2 Micks will be allowed to have a conversation that doesn't consist of Danny Mac reading sports headlines before Pete rushes him off to hit a post on a Police song.

That's what I hope for. While it's not fair to judge after only 2 days, that's all I can go off on. I just can't believe either of them signed up to play tunes for 4 hours. There has to be a master plan for 2 guys who are good with the gift of gab spreading their wings at some point so that the airwaves are saved from hearing another Eagles song.

I thank Mac for the MJH days and hope to hear more of him in the future. Just not in this format. Paraphrasing that master orator, Mike Singletary, "Can't do it."

Now it's M&H for me. The glory days of HFC and MJH are so long gone. At least M&H are pretty focused on talking local sports. They've grown on me.

that's right when I tuned in. Had a similar reaction. This show is not long for the air. I'm sure at first Mac's going to love his workrate. But eventually he's going to want to talk more and I don't think that's going to be allowed.

I have never listened to music on the radio because: 1. You cannot control what is being played; and 2. There are commercials.

This is a very puzzling career move.

Totally deserve that.

In my haste to post it, I had to "Mac-Guyver" it. In keeping with the Mac theme, of course.

I'll try to do better next time.

pretty telling Dan hasn't made it here yet to comment

flipped it on to Back on the Chain Gang and in to another song.

Is there a slot where they do most of their talking?

He's probably surprised at the way the gig is going. He is a host that has been able to move the needle in the past. How do you move the needle as an update guy? People are either going to like and listen to the music or not. No one is tuning into a show where the big name hosts are talking less than 10% of the time.

Gave it a listen this morning on way to train, heard some standard Doors song, commercials, news from Voltmer,
more commercials, and poof, I was at train station, no desire to listen to more on train, not a great 15 minute listen.
Mac sounds like he's "all in" though from his facebook posts, isn't today "Elton John Day" on the drive...??? Yikes..

How were their ratings in the morning? I don't know if was intended to be a show where the hosts talk too much more than that. They may gradually increase the amount of time the hosts talk to 15 or 20%, but more than that would be a big change for WDRV. Although, I don't think having two hosts is necessary if they don't intend on increasing talk time much more than that.

They were usually top 10 in mornings with Steve Downes, I believe.

I suspect they're going to slowly boil the frog when it comes to Respecting The Music in mornings. Besides, how much can you respect the music if you're hitting the post at the beginning of a song? If you really respected it, you wouldn't talk over any of it at all. You can hear "Life in the Fast Lane" on five FM stations, but you can only hear Mac on one. I'm sure they understand it and will ease into more personality-driven radio.

because of the soup and its propensity to play viva laughlin clips i fell in love with his seminal anthem i'm still standing. it's also a great song for mac, actually.

it blew my mind a few months ago when i saw the video for this and was like "holy shit, the umbrella toss in aphex twin's windowlicker video is a homage to the cane toss after the first chorus in this video! well done cunningham!"

hey man i retired after the dreamcast (you can't beat a system where all the games are free on the internet and you've got two weed dealers in your suburb who will trade you eighths of nugs for 10 CD-R dreamcast games. "it's like christmas morning every time you come over dude" and i didn't have to pay for weed for like 8 months out of that given year. that's i think both figuratively and literally leaving the video game "scene" on a high note) and uhhhhh, do you think i've ever played more than 2mins of halo in my life?

QUIT SLACKIN, CH!
