Joe Orr Road Rod wants to know how Bernstein gets away with saying things he says without suspension/termination.

I didn't actually hear the things he said or tweeted that got him in trouble this spring/summer. Didn't he get a day in the penalty box over Cheryl Scott? People have suggested I would have gotten more HR crap had I said them. In fairness to the Score, they didn't have any issues with anything I said in the second run there. It was ESPN that was suspension happy.
I was irritated by the massive fallout from the CSN chick over whom Bernsie dribbled. My feeling is when somebody chooses to earn a living by being in front of a camera, they deserve all they get. When I do CSN, I know I have to take all the cracks about double chins and possessing a neck that looks like somebody walked on with metal golf spikes. We reap what we sew.

Kirkwood wants thoughts on HBO's "Hard Knocks" and if my man-crush for J.J. Watt is over.

I loved Episode 3 last week, but only caught a fraction of last night's fourth installment. Can't wait to see the stuff when Bill O'Brien learned that Ryan Mallett overslept. I've got it on DVR.
Watt mugged for the cameras. The stuff in Episode 1 with him working out at night was acting and it irritated. I still like Watt as a guy and LOVE him as a player... but he looks like a hypocrite for first saying he didn't like it that HK was doing the Texans, then he goes out of his way to be the star of the show. He might be the best player in the NFL right now.

Ed from Lisle wants the TRUTH about how I feel about music we play.

Of course there are many turnoffs and PTFB moments, but that doesn't make the Drive unique. When in my SUV, I'm trigger happy. A station has 5-10 seconds to get my ears or I'm gone. Top 5 dislikes: Seger (pretty much all of it). Post 1977 REO. Foreigner. Boston. Techno Styx. Getting real tired of Pink Floyd (once loved 'em) The good thing is I don't have to feign interest.

more soon...Pete's gonna point to me in a few.

Jimmy Pasta wants to know when it's okay (for a Cubs fan) to expect victory.

In my mind, at least a month ago. When they swept the Giants in Wrigley, it legitimized them. I said as early as June 1 or so they were good enough to be a Wild Card team. And if they can get Hammel going again, they should be able to close the deal on at least Wild Card No.2.

Peoria Matt: "Are you coming back as a sports yakker in the near future?"

No. I've got a year and a half left ton my deal and I love it here. What happens then, I couldn't begin to predict what the climate will be like. I'm doing my best to stay out of the prediction business. Having said that, while mornings haven't been as brutal as I was expecting, I always will favor afternoon drive. Might there are be any opening somewhere then?

Say no more. Just type three commas followed by an ampersand if shit starts to go down and we'll get you the hell out of there.

Any chance you'd join IMU and I at the Cubs game on Friday?

Mac - Serious question...

No matter the format, time slot or station, whom would be your dream partner and why?

Edit:
In other words - Who would you like to partner with but just haven't had the opportunity?

Never heard of that show or term.

"On the Internet, a "catfish" is a person who creates fake personal profiles on social media sites using someone else's pictures and false biographical information to pretend to be someone other than themselves. These "catfish" usually intend to trick an unsuspecting person or persons into falling in love with them. The term "catfish" is derived from the title of the previously-mentioned 2010 documentary, in which filmmaker Schulman discovers that the woman with whom he'd been carrying on an online relationship had not been honest in describing herself."

I am a Notre Dame fan , and the Teo thing hit home in that regard.

good dolphins wonders if I'm reluctant to give North a forum on the morning show. Also asks if I have plans to do any pre or post game work.

I am not reluctant in the slightest, dolph. I'm among those who've missed his silliness. Love him or hate him and I know most of you are the latter, he has a PRESENCE so few have. Mike was a star. Can he be again? IDK. No post-game plans for this couch potato. Mike asked several times. I told him the show should be ALL his. I'll call the show for a five-minute hit. I may come down to do the Seattle post game in Week 3. That's because I can sit on my fat ass and watch all the noonskers at home, hence not missing better NFL product than what the Flying McCaskeys offer.

Darkside cuts to the quick: "Are you happy?"

I am. I really haven't minded the 3:30 wakeups as I thought I would. There are mornings when I'm tired and say "Shit is it that time already?" It fades fast, however, 'cuz I'm enjoying the gig. It's not perfect but I don't need perfect anymore.
Darkside also apologized for "being selfish" for being rough on me when I took the gig. He said he was just mad because I wasn't doing sports for four hours. No need to apolojai (Sammy Sosa) . I knew this was going to upset some long-time listeners who felt "cheated." I'm flattered, not put off by that. And I hope more of my "sports crowd followers" will sample what we're doing on the Drive.

Godfella wonders who my "dream partner" would be.

In a sports format, Boomer Essiason. He was so far and away my favorite guest when Spiegs and I were middays on the Score. Football...hockey... being a guy's guy. He'd be perfect. In the "hybrid format" we're doing now.... hmmm.... not sure exactly. I'll get back to you on that.

Several commented on the current midday show and my thoughts on it.

I'm rooting for those guys. I like 'em both and I still have consistent contact with Spiegs, Jay & Shep. We went through a lot -- on and off the air -- in those five years and they're pals for life. I haven't found the excessive laughter or nervous banter you guys describe. Maybe I don't listen enough. I LOVE Florio so I catch Wednesdays at 10 but I'm regularly in "The Stroud Crowd" with the Drive. The "Ten at 10" segment is one of the best regular features in town.

I'm one of North's biggest backers here but I recognize who he is

Somebody... sorry can't remember who... asked why we don't play Talking Heads or Social Distortion.

I asked my PD for you.... he said we DO play five or six TH songs. I know that is true, but they aren't in the rotation as much as some of us would like them to be. I'm a TH guy. Social Distortion? While a fine band.... not mainstream enough. IMHO the three bands/acts we don't give enough spins are the Pretenders, UFO and Warren Zevon.

That's so true Dan. Remember when you got in trouble for picking on Harry "TinyNutz"? So stupid. But you know..."Those People" run the Chicago media.

That's OK. I play Gilmour.

But seriously... anyone who doesn't like pink floyd is a terrible human being and needs to be mocked.

Did you know that I love Pink Floyd and that I have gotten my kids to like it as well?

It's really funny to hear children sing what they think are the lyrics to Brik in the Wall Pt. 2
