Big get together for a dinner.

Danny Mac saying it was a pleasurable dinner with relaxed people and people he liked....something he has not been a part of before.

He seemed mostly happy at ESPN in the beginning. I don't think he always liked working with Harry but got the feeling they liked each other well enough personally. Marriotti was a penis but that was short lived. Everybody else seemed to get along okay.

I think he liked the guys he worked with, and while at times got pissed at Harry, Mac was smart enough to realize that Harry was part of what made that show great at times.

IMO it was the management that pissed him off the most.

Why did he ever say he enjoyed having dinner with Everyone? LOL

Dont think he has even close to dishonest about that.

He has always said he will be the very best teammate he can be, but when he leaves, he wont hold back.

When Mac went to ESPN1000 (after his acrimonious split with The Score) he would routinely take shots during MJH at The Score and some of its hosts such as Mike North.

In this period you describe MJH owned B&B's ass and made them like it.

I did not listen to the crapfest that was Mac and Meat so I don't know what he really said about MJH. I get the feeling, while stressful and petty at times, the time at ESPN wasn't bad. From what it sounds like North, at some point, kinda fucked everybody over and got to big for his britches. Everybody kinda called him out for it or said something in their own way. Mac had him on a couple times, it wasn't terrible. North seems to be what he is and people accept him for it. I don't think he's as dramatic as you guys make him out to be.

No. 1 -- Just because I say nice things about the culture at the Drive doesn't mean I'm ripping previous stops. BigFan is right... I did say "I'm not used to that," when discussing an entire air staff that gets along. I wasn't meaning the four guys I worked with ever day on the Mac & Spiegs Project. There were several others who I couldn't envision gathering around a dinner table getting along harmoniously.

No. 2 -- Don't assume it's ME who's the one with a problem with another staffer. You guys (and Spaulding) are well aware of how fragile the guys are in this radio world. Petty jealousies... unnecessary rivalries.... "us against them".... etc. Not a business that produced a lot of group hugs.

No. 3 -- I play dirty. When you're on my team... I try to have your back. When I'm not... all bets are off.

The Drive dinner is like a cordial get together with your neighbors. But the real good times are when you are out with your drinking/sports/poker buddies. You're just settling Mac, trying hard to convince yourself that the Drive is a fun long term job. Said dinner probably had a long discussion about your favorite wine.......of course only after Pete pointed at you to give you the speak now signal.

:)

Bigfan has really had a thing about t shirts the last week or so.

The statement about being on the same team then not being on the same team is sorta laurenceish. That's not a good look for anybody including Laurence.

I need not be named specifically. I can be included in guys and I will not go Julie dicaro on you.

There is a difference between supporting and working well with fellow employees, you can still dislike them.

Leary has dropped the "Dont let the door hit you on the way out" on various white guys as they left the elevator...because if they stayed 1 more second, he would have kicked all their asses.

You know how Dahl and Meier crapped their pants when Larry Lujack barged into their studio that time? Sir would cry like a baby if Tommy Williams stepped to him. I hope it happens one day.

Well, sure. But why are bets off once you aren't on the same team? Seems like a road you don't really have to go down. And the radio world is kinda small, you could end up with some of those people again. Then what? Same team, try to have their back? That's how you get friends like Sid and gloop.

Sir's move with women is to try to establish the friend zone first and then make his move. He's like Jon Favreu in Swingers, except he isn't money. Sometimes he'll start as mentor, then friend, then it's "she's gonna get it" time.

Didn't you enjoy the group meals at Basta Pasta back in the day? You guys all seemed to enjoy each other's company for a while there.

Isn't the place that currently employs Mac always the "best place ever" that boasts "the best teammates ever"--that is, until Mac goes bonkers and is either fired or leaves in a huff. Then the best place turns out to be the worst place until Mac is forced to seek re-employment at the worst place, at which point it becomes the best place again.

Mac is the Keith Olbermann of Chicago sports talk.
