Fred thinks the NFL could resolve the issues with CTE by having the players play without helmets.

He said Ditka also brought up this idea, which should tell you something right there.

Players would still get hit in the head even if some weren't trying to use their noggin as a weapon simply because they're wearing a helmet.

I just heard that....not an air-tight argument, to say the least.

you'd have to get rid of all the padding bullshit. are rugby players constantly getting concussions? well, I dunno. maybe they are but it can't be any worse.

Looking st rugby and Australian rules football would probably give you your answers though. I'd think no padding on body and leather helmets to prevent people knocking noggin to noggin might have an impact but it would for sure be a different game.

People have argued this for almost as long as I can remember.

You can wear a helmet, no helmet, a pointy party hat ... the brain still bounces around inside your skull, and there ain't shit to be done about that short of not playing ... which I'm not at all advocating for ... I want football from 20-30 years ago back, frankly ... piss on a 45-yard pass, give me something more like NFL Blitz.

It seems that the game has always been tough, aggressive and physical. The difference today is that guys are so much bigger, faster and stronger. Thus leading to more injuries?
