Yup. This will likely happen with Eloy among MANY others as well.

Question...Why would the Cubs offer Bryant an extension now (or earlier this season)? Wouldn't they want to make sure his shoulder his 100% for the next several years before they do that? Of course, Theo signs pitchers with a bunch of shoulder issues so maybe that sort of stuff doesn't matter to him.

If Bryant is butthurt ( Which I doubt ) about service time then he needs to take it up with his fucking union for allowing the loophole not management for using it . He’s going to be a bazillionaire regardless. . I’d have no issues trading him for a haul.

Because the idea of “ I would be signing an extension right now but you guys fucked me on my service time “ is ridiculous . He’d be taking the same stance regardless whether they did that or not. He’d be making the same “ business decision “ .

Kap works the phones as soon as he gets off the air! He said he was talking to a reliable source who said Kris Bryant turned down a big extension. The Cubs could trade him for Jacob deGrom and then sign Manny Machado.

Astros do it too. These will be hard negotiations. Fucking him on service time is going to come around and bite them (the Sox doing this with Eloy is going to get them in a similar way) a bit here but the Cubs have the money and Bryant is their poster boy. He's not going to walk.

Theo wants a nice pretty undervalued contract on his mantle, he's not getting that with Bryant.

There are plenty of players who forgo the maximum money they could make for a lot of reasons.
