I was having a pleasant Friday, until this thread. It is not good for my physical health to get this irate.

Serenity now.

No, they'd be the Montreal Expos except for a half season in 1981.

Yep. Not even great Hall of Famers like Phil Niekro, Rickey F. Henderson and Dave Winfield could drag Mattingly's dead weight to a division title, let alone a World Series.

Winners don't care about participation trophies, or consider divisional/wild card rounds actual playoff series.

Also, I would love to meet these great fans that Joe Rod Road knows about who say that Don Mattingly was not a "true Yankee" while they say that a twelve (12) year old fan in the bleachers was a "true Yankee." That is really knowledgeable of these great fans!

How many games in the big leagues did Jeffrey Maier play? Oh that is right - zero (0).
How many hits in the big leagues did Jeffrey Maier have? Oh that is right - zero (0).
How many screaming liners did Jeffrey Maier stab with his glove at first base? Oh that is right - zero (0).
How many frozen ropes did Jeffrey Maier blast into the corner for a double or triple? Oh that is right - zero (0).

Similar batters thru age...
Frank Thomas (947.8) * 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
Frank Thomas (923.7) * 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

And Mattingly did it without steroids

And yet he did more to win a World Series for the Glorious Yankees than Don Mattingly ever did. Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Berra, Mantle, Ford, Jackson, Jeter, Maier, Williams, Posada, Pettitte, and now maybe Judge and Castro. Mattingly just can't make that list.

Frank Thomas was a first ballot Hall of Famer. Don Mattingly had himself a really good career, but is not a Hall of Fame player.

He never even made it to the playoffs. And even today, Thurman Lee Munson could out manage that dope. Not to mention that he's more deserving of HOF induction.

Don Mattingly was one of the greatest ballplayers in the history of the game! In the field he was an A+ player! At the plate, he was an A+ player! He was a team leader! Can you imagine how much it must have pained Don Mattingly to look around that God damned clubhouse at the bums who surrounded him?! If a ballclub had a lineup full of Don Mattinglys they would win the World Series every damned year!

Joe Rod Road - I cannot believe you sometimes. I thought you knew about baseball!

Mattingly was a great player until his back problems, beginning in 1987, sapped him of his power.

Perhaps some of you may have heard of Donald Arthur Mattingly. If you have not, you should probably do some research because he was one of the greatest ballplayers ever. This evil organization fired Don Mattingly without cause just when he had the Dodgers on the verge of a championship. Don Mattingly's only problem as a manager was that he did not have any players who were as great as Don Mattingly! He would probably say to Andre Ethier "Hey, why do you not take that wicked outside breaking ball and rope it into the corner like I would do?" And then Andre Ethier would strike out. As you can imagine, this was probably very frustrating to Don Mattingly.

Then they replace Don Mattingly with a buster .266 hitter named Dave Roberts. Dave Roberts was such a mediocre ballplayer that probably anything his players do seems epic to him. "Hey Yasiel Puig, I cannot believe how awesome it was when you caught that fly ball!" And then Yasiel Puig thinks to himself "this is awesome, any mundane act I perform at the plate or in the field is amazing to this punch and Judy buster, while I could never hope to please Don Mattingly because I could never be the ballplayer he was."

Anybody that mistreats Don Mattingly is my enemy.
