Old LA in that movie was still better than Brooklyn.

But thanks anyway Robert Moses.

The Brooklyn Dodgers.....baseball's nostalgic team.

East coast media loves these guys. Glorifies Ebbets field.

I've said this story before but maybe 10 years ago I was at PacBell/ATT sitting besides an old giants fan. He was old, like 70s/80s. We started talking and he told me he was a Giants fan from back in the NY days. We talked a lot about that era and I brought up the Brooklyn Dodgers and Ebbets field. This old man went off 'THAT EBBETS FIELD WAS A GARBAGE DUMP. THEY HAD THIS CHEAP CHAIN LINK FENCE OUT IN RIGHT'.

Media vs Old Giants Fan ??? I'll go w/ Old Giants Fan

btw....NY Baseball

Brooklyn fans - blue collr
Yankees fans - Park Ave/Manhattanites w/ the Bronx mixed in

NY Giants fans ?? ?? What were they like? Middle class guys?

Do you think anyone in LA has ever had to dodge a trolley? Only in nursing homes maybe? *cosmic shrug*

I approve of this reference.

I think it was geography??? The Giants were on a downward spiral after 1951. I think the Polo Grounds was in Harlem, and less than a mile from Yankee Stadium (in the Bronx, across the river). The Giants were the original kings of the town.

Great question!!!!

The New York Giants never got nearly as romanticized as the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Yes the polo grounds was across the river from yankee stadium. some nights when the yankees were playing, overflow parking would be at the polo grounds and fans shuttled to yankee stadium.
