This makes absolutely no sense to me.

I was surprised to hear that this morning; supposedly they have a lot of prospects that Mike Rizzo is interested in.

I am sure, but I don't see us giving up a shit ton of prospects for rental because there is no way in hell they are going to sign him.

Soto isn't a rental, he has two more arb years after this season.

He would be here for a season plus, I don't understand giving up your top talent for that.

If we make the move and win the 2022 or 2023 World Series, its worth it.

True, but it would be totally out of character. But hell, not my money. :D

I have read the Brewers and Cardinals in the mix for Soto. Neither makes any sense to me. They just don't operate in that manner and neither team is signing him long term.

You would actually have 2 full seasons (+ 2 months of this year) of him under control.

You would literally have three swings with Soto to win a World Series..2022, 2023, and 2024..if you can get him for some prospects that will never amount to shit anyway, it's a no brainer decision. Give those fucking losers in southern Wisconsin something to cheer about.

I don't think you are going to hold onto him for the whole time and let him walk and get nothing in return, even you are smarter than that Bob.

Also, just won an NBA Championship last year, we aren't losing too bad.

If you have a legit shot at winning the WS those three years, yes you hold him and take those swings(extension be damned).

Except, you can't do that anymore.

Lots of Cub fans got Brewers on the brain, must not be anything going on with the Northside.

Sox fan who watches playoffs.

Also see Josh Hader has 35 appearances and a 4.5 ERA. It's just not innings pitched. It's being up and throwing hard 4 or 5 days a week. MLB is a bullpen wrecker. Counsell is the king of bullpen wrecking. Hader will be cooked shortly. If not already.

I don't think you will be right and we can revisit this. His ERA is up, because he has had a rough stretch over a couple of weeks. A lot of pitchers go thru that each year. He has been really good for the vast majority of the season.

ERA is a terrible way to judge a relief pitcher as one bad outing can skew it for weeks.

These hard throwing guys typically only have a couple seasons in them anyway, well most of them that is. You see guys like Andrew Miller or Hader or the guys from the KC bullpen back in the day go from dominant to mop up guys to DFA'd real quick in this day and age.

Also, he isn't throwing hard 4 to 5 times a week, I wish he was. I don't understand why the Brewers don't blow these guys arms out, knowing damn well they aren't going to resign them. Fuck what happens to the next team.

because Counsell loves pitching changes. The more the better

Yes, the Brewers have a match up philosophy, they also do it offensively. Their nerds believe it to be true and it has been pretty successful getting to the playoffs 4 of the last 6 years.

Valid point. But what's the bullpen's effectiveness in the playoffs after all of them have 65 appearances through the season? I don't see any WS appearances.

I don't believe the bullpen is the reason for lack of WS appearances.

Sounds like Hader is on the move, I figured it would for sure be this offseason at the latest he was gone.

He’ll be making like 16 million in arbitration next year. That’s a lot for a small market team.

The wonderful life of small market teams. Thankfully we have a guy that hasn't been scored on in 30 innings to plug in.
