Great question, if they stay in house it will be Pat Murphy I would guess but Matt Arnold the guy in charge has only been there for a year and supposedly he and Counsell were really close. Like live around the corner from each other and go on walks together, those might be a little awkward now. But I wouldn't know he might want to hire. I expect it will be a younger guy from someone's current staff.

If they go for a first time manager, I think the Francona-Cash tree is one of the better ones to promote from, the pile of trash handed to Matt Quartero in KC notwithstanding.

Brady Williams is the Rays 3B coach after several years of managing in the minors. Former big league Morgan Ensberg manages their AA team and is managing in the Arizona Fall League.

He will be frustrating with his lineups and constant changing, but he seemed to always have complete buy in by the clubhouse. You never heard of any issues internally, that is a Huge part of the battle.

Further he had their respect as a former player that had to bust his ass to get everything he got.
