I'll see some Sox games later in the year, but as for now, the only thing that will draw me to Bridgeport is 1) 35th Street Redhots, 2) Ricobene's, 3) Grandstand, and 4) Tangible Books.

Tangible Books is a great place, and it's right there on 33rd and Halsted.

Centuries and Sleuths Bookstore in Forest Park is great. Guy's owned the shop forever and knows pretty much everything about historical and mystery books and will talk your ear off about it.

In Chicago, Powell's on 57th St and the Seminary Co-Op on Woodlawn come close to realizing the Platonic ideal of a bookstore.

Never found anything like OG Powell's in Portland or the Strand in lower Manhattan in the Midwest. McMurtry's Booked Up store(s?) in north Texas would have been a treat, but since dude died/COVID I think they all closed down

I was at Pilsen Community Books (https://pilsencommunitybooks.com/) tonight. Very left wing place, even by used book store standards. However, it was very well organized and very easy to browse. Despite the opportunity to expand my horizons, I left with a Philip Roth novel.

Finally went there! Great place.

And yes, I was flirted with.

We just hit one in Reedsburg. The lady running the joint sells the book then gives you a credit of half the price if you bring it back. Each book is marked. Kelly grabbed one from a local author. Sadly I only read on my iPad because I hate low light reading of traditional books.

I have nothing against Barnes & Noble, but I will if it kills my favorite book store in the city, Myopic Books. They do occupy different book store niches, but there isn't much room for any book store (regardless of niche) these days.
