There are not as many in positions to bail their kids out with good paying jobs.

Of course.

They probably also complain how others should "work harder".

So not really a “ white privilege “ thing then.

Well when the overwhelming majority of the people in places that connect to well paying jobs are white you can make that argument. Though it is more about who you know than strictly race. If you grow up in a white neighborhood on the South side you are almost guaranteed to know someone who at minimum can get you into a union. I worked at one school filled with the children of connected black parents. That group was much smaller and came from a more spread out area.

Run across people from all walks of life on a daily basis at work. There are people filling good paying jobs that are dumb as a bag of hammers, but they have great family connections. The world is all about networking, little claw is a smart kid, but she has managed to get job after job through kids/parents she knew from the private school we put her through. Learned this a little later in life myself, but see it on display every day.

The same is also true for people that understand how to navigate social services agencies and access benefits. Had one woman give me chapter and verse about how to quality for disability and how to pull money out of bank accounts at certain times to continue to qualify for Section 8 housing. There are those that work people with "empathy", see them as suckers, most of the empathetic people just want to throw money at them so they don't have to deal with them.

My bigger takeaway was that Ms. Unfuckwithable - who doesn’t care what people do or say - immediately responded to little Danny Bernstein’s tweet accusing her of lacking empathy.

Who do you suppose is the intended audience for that tweet? Is it yet another example of him trying to convince the world that he's smart, or is it a joke that also (just incidentally) shows the world he's smart?

Him.

And, look, I've posted shit here before that I was almost entirely sure only I would get...so, I get it.

But, much like LoHo, I like to think there's just that one guy on 294 that read my post and said, yeah, I get it.

It goes back to when he started at the station. Any normal person says, when referencing their college days, "When I was in college..." or "In college...", but Dan had to say "When I was at Duke..." or "At Duke..." to make sure everyone knew where he went.

That’s the thing Tad. Dan thinks he’s woke and not “that” privileged. There are miles of tape and untold stories proving he is. He’s told us.

That's typically the purview of guys who attended Harvard, Yale, or Princeton. I mean, I know Duke is considered a top school, but when a guy says he went there, my first thought is, "Oh, you couldn't get into Harvard or Yale." I put Michigan in the same category. When a Jewish guy attended Michigan I know he couldn't cut it in the Ivies.

Incidentally, I have a business associate who went to Harvard. He'll let you know about it too, but he's far prouder that he went to Phillips Andover. I don't think I've ever had a conversation with the guy where he didn't mention Andover.

I am not sure how many of you are aware of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams, but they are administered once a year on the same day globally. In Chicago, they were held at McCormack Place, and it was a crazy intimidating room of maybe a thousand candidates all at little desks. It is a six hour exam, and you have to pass three levels.

In any case (and sorry queue a lot of humblebrag), when I showed up for level 1 on the first Saturday in June, I noticed all the douches wearing Kellogg, Wharton, and Ivy sweatshirts. Guys next to me were talking about their investment banking jobs and their commutes from Lake Forest to downtown everyday. I had just finished grad school and employed at $45k per year. These know it alls would ask me, “did you study?”. LOL, this is one of the hardest exams on the planet, and they recommend 250 hours of study for each exam. I studied for five months straight for each exam. “FUCK YEAH I studied.”

So after the first half of the exam, three hours, you get a break. One of the douches around me was at the urinal crying at how hard the exam was. These people with fancy sweaters on looked like they had been hit by a train. So much for these super smart kids that went to top universities. My grad degree is from NIU and cost $20k all in for 19 classes.

As a post script, you are grouped according to test level and in order of your candidate number. So for level 2 the next year, you could see who passed as you moved closer to all the folks in your prior year’s group. It has an average pass rate in the 35% area depending on year. Humblebragisdman, CFA
